Preparation for competitive exams with a cup of coffee -By Palash Jhawar from MDI Gurgaon

Gone are the days when wars were fought against different kingdoms, different invaders, or different people. The modern-day war is against time. It’s a constant struggle to become better every day. Every moment is precious. If you are a student preparing for a competitive exam, a recent graduate trying to climb the ladders of the corporate world and a sportsman trying to buckle up for the upcoming championship, you can understand well. So, let me take you on a caffeine-rich journey along with my preparation for competitive exams with a cup of coffee.

Love for coffee and preparation for competitive exams

The recent Nescafe advertisement's tagline ‘Badal Life Ki Raftaar’ sounds good to me. It’s a true depiction of the role which coffee plays in our lives. It’s not a beverage, it’s divine nectar straight from heaven, sent by the Gods to unleash the true power of humans.

The weather doesn’t matter, the occasion doesn’t matter and even the company doesn’t matter. If you are feeling tired?  Have a cup of coffee. Partying with your friends or spending some time alone, you can grab a cup of coffee.

So, I am a final year MBA student. Let’s just say that my feelings for coffee began to intensify in the first year. After countless hours of preparation for competitive exams and cracking one of them, I made it into MDI Gurgaon, one of the top B-schools in the country. I thought the toughest part was over. But I was wrong.

My favorite in-house coffee drink

As soon as I entered college, I was barraged with case studies, preparation for competitive exams, corporate competitions and summer placements. During this time, my love for coffee brewed stronger. Generally, I like to have a strong cup of coffee with high sugar content. Okay, you can make judgments. Moreover, I came across many budding MBA aspirants at MDI, who consumed black coffee and sugar syrup with a pinch of caffeine.

I believe in the philosophy of "live and let live". I would also take this opportunity to talk about my favorite in-house coffee drink, which is a homemade yummy by me. So, crush a small packet of Hide-n-seek biscuits along with a few ice cubes and blend it for a minute. Well, no wonder how I consumed six packets of milk every day and that too with my roommate.

My love for coffee will never end

Our campus is a place of "coffeeholics". There is ‘Khatri Bhaiya’ whose hot coffee is a perfect blend of caffeine to reduce stress. On the other side, ‘Sharmaji’s Canteen’ has always been a late-night companion to satisfy our need for caffeine. Moreover, you can visit 'Vypaar Kendra', a coffee point just a few meters away from my college. I still remember the night where we roamed half of the city looking to have coffee. Well, our love for coffee will never ever end. Also, MDI holds an annual coffee meet called ‘Guftagu’ at premium coffee joints like Starbucks.

Eventually, coffee for me is an emotion or you can say a religion. In the end, sipping a cup of coffee is a speechless emotional ride.
