Randstad Employer Brand Research 2019 Announces the Country’s most attractive Employer Brand: Amazon India

With time and progress of the country, the demands of the citizens change. Employers across the country are finding ways to make themselves the most valued, inculcating changes in their policies and employment strategies. Every year, one firm is termed as the most valued or in clearer words, the most wanted company in the eyes of the employees. This year, Randstad Employer Brand Research 2019, being the most authentic, thorough and inclusive employer brand research, declared Amazon India as the country’s most attractive employer brand. Microsoft India took place as the first runner up which was followed by Sony India.

In the research conducted this year, 32 companies participated in REBR 2019, covering the global economy of 75%. They had around 2,00,000 voters and an interesting fact revealed that employee benefits and salary were the primary reasons to choose a particular employer. Job security and the balance between work and life were a few other reasons which came into the picture.

In India, a significant disparity was observed in these areas between what employees prefer and what their prospective employer offers. The survey found that the gender differences between men and women in the top aspects were nominal. Women were more inclined towards giving importance to salary and then to the balance between their work and life where on the other hand, men rated these two aspects equally, giving equal privilege to them both, 46% each.

The balance importance inflicted on the balance of work and life was interesting to note. This was a key factor when choosing employers which has increased considerably in the past two years, reaching 46%. Another prevalent fact was that in India, the employees valued job security highly. Around 23% of the Indian employees indicated that they would agree to place security on their job. This rate was more than the one received from the average APAC. 52% of the voters were, thus, willing to give up 10% of the salary to secure their jobs

REBR 2019 listed the following as the top 10 most desirable employer brands (in India):

Apart from listing the top companies, REBR also drew some fascinating conclusions. According to the research, the major factor for an employee to stick with their employer was job security. It suggested that if employers offered better growth opportunities, their organizations would attract the workforce who left their companies for this reason alone. The share of such employees turned out to be 43%.

The research also revealed that about 29% of the employees left their firms in the last one year and another 45% are thinking about switching their employer in the coming year.

The survey also talked about how employees prefer multinational companies (MNCs) over start-ups for employment opportunities. Considering their preferences, around 55% of people preferred to work for MNCs while only a small percentage of 9% wanted to work with start-ups. The probable reasons suspected for this variation were the security of their jobs, financial well-being and the career growth offered by these organizations.
