Reliance T.U.P 4.0 National Finalist Sudeepta Saha's Story
Reliance T.U.P 4.0 is one of the most prestigious B-School competitions in this country. I still remember those initial days in my college when I used to look at my seniors, Reliance T.U.P 3.0 national finalists, with awe. So, when the advertisement of Reliance TUP 4.0 was published, I decided right away to participate in this competition.
I had already implemented the idea which I was presenting in the grand finale. So, the major work was to articulate and structure it properly. I knew that the judges would ask me a bunch of questions. In order to effectively face those questions, I undertook a strategy. I presented the idea to my professors and friends in my college. This helped me to prepare for probable questions that I may face in the finale. Looking back at the strategy now, I think, it did work well.
I participated in the competition individually. To be more precise, my team was the only one-member team in Reliance TUP 4.0. So, I did not face the conflicts that might have been the case with having other people in your team. However, the same reason made it much tougher to prepare for the grand finale. The number of sleepless nights was comparatively more.
I was not only looking into the creative part of the idea but was also working to perfect the technical aspects of the same. But whenever I faced a dead-end, my batchmates and professors helped me out. I sincerely believe that one should ‘Never give up!’. No matter how strong your competitors are, give them a good fight. You either win or you lose, but give your best in what you do.
There were a total of 23 teams competing in the grand finale. All teams were equally competent and their ideas were equally strong. And why not? We are talking about some of the best and brightest brains of the country. And everyone lived up to the expectation. The unforgettable moment was when I got a standing ovation after my presentation.
We were judged by a panel of four members including Jalaj Dani- Director and Head, Reliance Foundation, Rui Bastos- CIO and Group Head of Audit and Risk Management, RIL, Sunil Dutt- President - Devices, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, and Ashwani Prashara- CHRO - Hydrocarbons, RIL. The quality of judgement had to be top-notch when there were such eminent personalities on the panel. The organization and framing were immaculate. Everything was smooth, well rehearsed and perfectly planned.
The experience I gained after talking to the participants from different colleges was the best point of this entire journey. Reliance took care of everything. Right from the point of leaving the college gate till the point of returning back, RIL made sure that everything went according to the plan. I was extremely impressed by the level of professionalism the organizers portrayed.
