Reminiscing the last few college days: Life after my internship experience -By Surbhi from IIM Ranchi
After 2 months of slogging during my internship and a very short stay at home, I finally came back to the place which is popular as the "Home away from home". The day I entered the college gates again, everything was the same, except me. I was a lot more confident version of myself. Well, the feeling of joy that you experience when you meet your batch mates after such a long break of internship certainly adds up to your excitement. You suddenly become extremely happy to see most familiar faces who in a few days.
The dubious phase of internship
The internship phase is a life-changing and enriching experience of a B-school journey. Of course, I was nervous and doubtful. My nervousness made me feel less confident and the doubts questioned my abilities, whether or not I'll be able to meet my boss’s expectations. I presumed that things will turn out to be difficult. But I was proved wrong. I worked really hard and fought back against all my negative thoughts. Every journey helps you grow. So did mine. I learnt a lot from the leaders, my mentor and from my mistakes.
After having the contentment of performing really well in my internship, I was all set to redefine my college experience by perfecting my grades in class. My approach towards things had changed considerably and I wanted to implement the very same techniques in my second year of college.
The difference: Friends and Juniors
Classes were scheduled the very next day. This time it was different. In the second year, we chose electives based on our interest. This was unlike the first year where the course was similar for everybody. Where in the first year I knew nobody, in the second year we would work with friends, even though we didn't have much time to gel well. So, the efforts of working with the unfamiliar styles of these familiar faces was going to be yet another challenge. We were all set for this new environment.
However, a bigger picture was yet to unveil. Yes, the very feeling of being a senior didn't en-grip me until the day I was interrupted on my way to the cafeteria. A meek and unfamiliar girl asked me, "Hi, do you know the way to warden's room? I am new here!" The admissions for the batch 2019-21 had begun that day and so commenced our planning to welcome them.
From a mere student to the IIM Ranchi crow
There was an entire process of transforming a new student from being just “a student”, to getting recognized as "a crow" at IIM Ranchi. Well, the logo of IIM Ranchi has a bird that is considered smart, hard-working, committed, adaptable and knowledgeable. Hence, being a part of this college implies that you should resonate with the very same attributes, i.e., the spirit of the bird. In a nutshell, one cannot bag the title easily. You need to earn it.
The next in our plan was to raise curtains of all the fun activities, management challenges and the series of introductory sessions. These were meant to test our juniors' creativity, their commitment, their patience and their will to push further.
With the last year of college left, the sweet title of "senior crow" brings along a lot many responsibilities. And even though I still remember leaving the place with a nostalgic feeling, it feels good to be back.
