Going by Shivam Jha's first-year results at Delhi Technological University (DTU), it would have been impossible to understand his real abilities. As a student of Mechanical Engineering at DTU, he had 4 backlogs in his first year and a GPA of only 3.14. Yet, by the time he was in his final year at DTU, Shivam had turned things around and secured a perfect 10 GPA in the final term.

At the same time, he founded DTU Times - a publication based at his college, Delhi Technological University which sends a 40-page quarterly newsletter documenting every departmental activity. Later, he founded a consulting company for non-profits and social enterprises.

Shivam's most recent achievement is joining the 2024 batch at IIM-Calcutta after securing the 99.75 percentile in the CAT exam.

Shivam's Journey To The Top

Although there is no doubt that Shivam is a talented person, his journey to the top was certainly not an easy one. There were insurmountable hurdles on his way and he had to cross them in order to effectively be where is now.

The first of his struggle was to successfully escape the jaws of death. Yes, you read that right! In 2021, Shivam met with a near-fatal accident that left him with multiple fractures and a prolonged period of bed rest.

Despite all of it, Shivam managed to study for the CAT exam and secured a score in the top 99.75 percentile. With that score, he was eligible to join the Cohort of 2024 at IIM Calcutta - one of the top 3 institutes in the IIM family.

Building And Scaling Up His Own Company

Back in January 2019, Shivam founded 180 Degrees Consulting - a consulting firm for nonprofits and social enterprises right from the premises of the DTU campus.

180 Degrees Consulting went on to operate in 35 countries around the world and had branches in more than 170 leading universities. In fact, 180 degrees consulting is today the world's largest university-based consulting firm.

Its aim is to provide socially conscious organizations around the world with high quality, extremely affordable consulting service. Shivam is currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer at 180 degrees consulting.

A Profile Full Of Achievements

Shivam's entry into McKinsey was laden with flowers. In fact, not only McKinsey where he later joined as an Analyst, Shivam had cracked offers from all three MBBs last year.

During his stint as a student at DTU, Shivam has won podium finishes in 10+ case competitions and other contests, such as quizzing and debating. His Linkedin profile suggests that he has the experience of leading 4 clubs at DTU.

Meanwhile, he has also managed to publish and is a published writer now. Among his most recent publications is a comprehensive handbook for acing case competitions called The Case Competition Handbook. Published jointly with 180 Degrees Consulting, this handbook aims to democratize case knowledge at the undergraduate level and the book has been accessed by over 20,000 students.
