SIBM Team Wins Aditya Birla Group’s HeadstaRt 2018

HeadstaRt 2018 by Aditya Birla Group is one of the competitions open to students of certain premier b-schools of the country specialising in Human Resource domain. Aditya Birla Group has become pioneers in launching such national level competition which inculcate the spirit of curiosity, competitiveness, and negotiation in the students. These qualities assist students further in blossoming as a full-fledged future business leader.

HeadstaRt 2018 was launched across select campuses-MDI Gurgaon, SCMHRD Pune, SIBM Pune, TISS Mumbai, XIM Bhubaneshwar and XLRI – HRM. Only pre-final year students pursuing MBA/PGDM (HR specialization) were allowed to participate.

The registration for HeadstaRt 2018 was thrown open on 26th July. Teams with 3 members were asked to register for the competition online on Dare2Compete.

Rounds

HeadstaRt 2018 was a round-specific contest comprising of-

• Round 1-Simulation Game: Two rounds of HR simulation to get a hands-on experience of working in a large conglomerate
• Round 2-Case Study: A live case study to showcase your HR prowess
• Finale - Present your ideas to industry’s best HR Leaders

The registrations ended on 31st July and the round 1 commenced on 1st of August and continued till 3rd. The simulation game acted as a screening round so that only the best and deserving teams get the opportunity to move forward. Top 20 teams emerged successfully from their respective campuses to participate in the simulation game and the best scorers from this round would get the opportunity to present in the final round. Top 8 teams from Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon and XLRI Jamshedpur made it to the Case Study Round.

After putting in their business acumen and best knowledge that they have accumulated in the classroom, the students prepared a full-fledged solution to a live business challenge vexing Aditya Birla Group.

Winners

On 31st August 2018, the teams delivered their best to the panel of Jury in the final round. After hearing out all the intense plan and judging them on the various parameters the jury declared the SIBM Team Hilltop Raiders comprising of Amneet Kaur, Sagnik Dasgupta and Pallavi Singh as the winner of HeadstaRt 2018 and the Team Theseus from TISS comprising of Shyamkrishan R, Sheetal Poojary and Himani Baru as the runner-up.

A sneak-peek into the Human Resource Leadership Program

The HR Leadership Program seeks to groom talented individuals with exceptional analytical thinking, strategic management and interpersonal skills to be future HR leaders of the Aditya Birla Group.

Key aspects of the Program:

1. Enable participants to take on challenging roles across the Group's worldwide operations, placing them in positions of responsibility
2. Offers cross-functional exposure in sales, operations, and finance in addition to exposure across varied areas of human resources
3. Once confirmed, the participants take on key individual contributor roles
