SJMSOM, IIT Bombay soars high with their Summer Placement with an increase of almost 24% in the average stipend price
With a batch strength of 113 and work experience varying from less than 12 months to over 36+ months, SJMSOM saw their highest stipend go up to Rs 3 lakhs. The average offer being Rs 1.77 lakhs which spanned across 40 companies offering roles in SCM, Consulting, Sales & Marketing, Operations among others. Participating companies include some prominent names such as Goldman Sachs, Procter & Gamble, Reliance Industries Ltd. to name a few.

With a mix of new and repeat recruiters, these spanned various industries flooding SJMSOM to offer their students internships and picked up the best minds they have to offer.
FMCG/FMCD
Asian Paints, Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Britannia, Colgate Palmolive, Kimberly Clark, Mondelez and Pidilite were some of the companies offering roles in Sales & Marketing, SCM, IT & Operations to the candidates and showing faith in them and the college.
BFSI
Global Finance, Credit Research, Equity Research, Investment Banking, Internal Audit, Retail & Corporate Banking, Risk Management and Transaction Banking are just some of the coveted profiles offered to candidates. Some big names took part in this drive such as JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Societe Generale Nomura, HSBC Bank, SIDBI, Yes Bank and Indus Valley Partners through this placement process.
Consulting/IT
PwC offered the profile of Management Consultant to the candidates whereas Samsung offered roles of Project Management & Strategy. Apart from these two, some of the biggest names in the world of Consulting and IT such as Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Digital McKinsey, Hitachi Consulting, Value Labs and GEP to name a few participated in this summer placement at SJMSOM. The candidates were offered roles in Product Management, Business Analytics, Management Consulting and Procurement Consulting.
Healthcare, E-Commerce & Others
Healthcare and Pharma companies such as Boehringer Ingelheim and Cochlear showed continued faith by offering roles in Operations, Sales and Marketing. One of the giants of E-Commerce, Flipkart, also participated in this placement drive and offered roles in Design, Operations and Planning. Along with these industry stalwarts, OYO Rooms was also one of the companies that participated and offered diverse roles to the students.
Manufacturing and Conglomerate
Tata Motors, Piramal, Siemens, ACG and Cummins were all enthusiastic participants in this drive offering roles in Sales and Marketing, Operations and SCM. Apart from this, Reliance Industries Ltd came offering their coveted leadership program to the students. Also, there was some continued participation from companies in the manufacturing sector as well.
Average Stipend offered to the candidates are as follows:
- Top 30% - Rs 2,59,588
- Top 50% - Rs 2,38,964
- Top 80% - Rs 2,02,489
A mix of new additions combined with legacies ushered in a new high in the stipend amount offered. This led SJMSOM, IIT Bombay to forge new partnerships with first time visiting companies participating in the summer placement drive. It is likely to be a successful endeavour between them.
