I felt immensely proud and honored to stand out in the whole country as a young competitive leader! Everyone was immensely proud. My parents, especially my mom was ecstatic to see my name among the Top 100 D2C Competitive Leaders 2020. My college peers were extremely happy that my efforts had brought more recognition to XIMB in the corporate circle.
Don't dread putting efforts
Solving problems has always been my passion. And the willingness to learn new things and applying them to solve these corporate-level cases helped me a lot in my journey. Things were not a cakewalk every time. There were ups and downs but personally I am not easily shaken by difficulties especially when I am executing something I am interested in. There had been multiple situations where I had to balance a lot. But then again I made sure to double the efforts and manage everything strategically. When things got tough and saturated I made sure to take timely breaks so that I was not exhausted. Because for me winning isn't everything, it's the only thing!
Competitions can give you an edge
In general, I would tell every MBA aspirant to at least try five cases before giving up on any challenge. I have seen numerous people let go after the initial 1 or 2 competitions. But if we look from a different perspective, solving cases is not only fun but there is exponential learning attached to them. They can offer you experiences that are not covered in theory and help you apply your learnings into real-life business situations. Moreover, they are one of the most important CV points one can have!
Bonus Tip: For more enthusiastic students I would recommend thinking about the problem in a holistic way. It will be more valuable if there is a clear flow of logic from start to end rather than focusing too much only on one aspect. Also, try and find out peers whose skills complement yours rather than your closest buddy. Because the right team doesn't need motivation. They will always stay motivated.
