Indian IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is looking forward to hiring 1,00,000 freshers by the end of FY 2022. Already home to over 77,000 freshers, this will make TCS the biggest recruiter of fresh talents in the IT and Services industry in India. This step will also break TCS’s previously set record in hiring freshers.
In every quarter, the IT giant has hired more freshers than the set target. The total employee count at TCS recently touched the milestone of 2,00,000, making them one of the largest employers in India.
What is TCS-NQT?
TCS conducts a National Qualifier Test (NQT) to hire freshers in different roles at the organization. Previously, the test was conducted only once a year, but now the frequency has increased. Freshers are now getting several opportunities in each financial year to sit for the TCS-NQT.
However, freshers are not the only target group of TCS when it comes to fresh hirings. The company is running a special initiative called ‘Rebegin with #TheBigMove’. Under this initiative, experienced women professionals get the opportunity to restart their careers at TCS after a gap.
Opportunities for fresher’s at TCS
As per the indications from the company, FY 2022 will be a treasure chest of opportunities for freshers. According to Milind Lakkad, the global head of HR at TCS, the company onboarded 43,000 freshers in the first half of 2021 itself!
All the students receive extensive training in the latest technologies as part of their hiring process. In short, securing a job at TCS will be a remarkable learning experience for any fresher. The company is constantly innovating, and who better can lead the way than fresh faces?
Why this unprecedented rate of hiring at TCS?
One of the major factors behind the rise in hiring numbers is the increasing attrition rate of the company. In the last quarter, the attrition rate of TCS touched the 15% mark from a mere 11.6 % in the previous quarter.
The rising attrition rate has nudged TCS to offer better compensation packages to employees. Within the revamp process, many existing employees have been promoted to higher positions. Another 40,000 are set to receive promotion by March 2022.
2022 is going to be a glorious year for existing employees as well as freshers joining TCS. With better employee engagement and compensation packages on offer, a job at TCS would be a highly lucrative prospect in the coming months.
