TISS Mumbai Team Wins Second-runner Up Title At Myntra Stylbiz 2021
"Dhoni finishes off in style", rarely do we get 'this' adrenaline rush as was there in WC 2011 final. Cut to B-School life, as our team of 3 was searching for its iconic moment, it got its name declared as the 2nd Runner-up in 'Grand Finale' of Myntra Stylebiz: Team Kata from TISS Mumbai. It felt unreal! We were elated! Here is how our team achieved this feat!
Prior to Myntra, we participated in many other case competitions on Dare2Compete. Each one of them was a very enriching experience. We participated in Myntra due to the same reason. The problem statement was also very interesting and relevant which made us give our 100% to it. The competition was structured really well. All the timelines were adhered to and the organization also invested a lot of effort into verifying every team's solution. The entire process, right from framing the problem statement to judging the finale was enriching. The thought process behind it was visible.
Kickstarting the journey to a stylish win!
Our team first decided to do our secondary research on the given problem statement. We would meet every day and brainstorm how to go about it. Adding onto our secondary research, we felt the importance of primary research as well which added value to our solution. The most challenging phase was conducting primary research (focused group discussions and surveys) in a short span of time.
Surely the online mode was another challenge. But since our batch started with an online MBA, we were accustomed to this mode. In case of external challenges like loss of electricity or low wifi bandwidth, other team members would fill in the gaps. Good understanding and coordination between our team members helped us overcome such issues.
We also sailed past certain conflicts. The first was during making the decision on which problem statement to choose. We were given 2 options and both of them were very relevant to the current times. Even in the journey to devise a solution, one of us would play the role of a 'devil's advocate'. This actually helped us in coming with a robust solution without many loopholes in the solution.
Talent wins games, but teamwork wins Myntra Stylebiz
Each member of our team had different talents. Someone was good in research, another person was good at organizing the content in the presentation, and another one at making the solution implementable. We had different talents and yet we were always on the same page. This difference as well as good understanding helped our team to go further.

During the entire competition, we made so many memories. One of the joyful moments was when we got the mails of making it to the finale. Previously we had taken part in various other competitions as well but never made it to the finals. This time it was a big achievement. Our hard work and continuous improvement paid off!
Overall, it can be said...
The entire experience was full of learnings. It introduced us to the culture at Myntra and how much is the importance of tech roles in an e-commerce organization. We also learned various concepts around employer branding and how to attract and retain talent, especially tech talent. This competition gave us an opportunity to reflect on ourselves as well and to push our limits.
