The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India’s largest recruiter for jobs under the Government of India. It has commenced the application procedure for recruiting qualified candidates for UPSC IES- Indian Economic Service and UPSC ISS- Indian Statistical Service for 2022.

UPSC IES/ ISS 2022: Important Dates

Application Deadline 26th April 2022, 6:00 PM
Last Date for Fee Payment Online Payment: 26th April 2022, 6:00 PM
Pay by Cash: Option deactivates from the site at 11:59 PM, 25th April 2022. Pay-in-slip can be used to make payments the next day during working hours of the bank.
Exam Date 24th to 26th June 2022

Note: Online Applications can be withdrawn from 4th May 2022 to 10th May 2022, 6.00 PM

UPSC IES/ ISS 2022: Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality
    • A citizen of India; or
    • A subject of Nepal; or
    • A subject of Bhutan; or
    • Tibetian refugee who came to India with the intent to settle permanently before 1st January 1962 are also eligible for UPSC IES/ ISS.
    • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan/Burma/Sri Lanka/ specific East African countries to settle permanently in India 
  • Age Limit 
    • As of 1st August 2022, the candidates applying for UPSC IES/ ISS must have above 21 years of age but below 30 years of age. (the candidate must have been born after 2nd August 1992 and before 1st August 2001). 
  • Upper age limit relaxations are available for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ disabled Defence Services Personnel/Ex-Servicemen with at least 5 years of military service as of 1st August 2022. 
  • Educational Qualification
    • UPSC IES: Applicants must have obtained a postgraduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/ Econometrics from a university recognized and verified by the state/central government.
    • UPSC ISS: Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any field but with Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics as a subject or a Master's degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a university recognized and verified by the state/central government.

  • Fee Structure
    • OBS/EWS Candidates- ₹200/- by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or by using Internet Banking of SBI
    • Candidates who are Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability are not required to pay examination fees.
  • The availability of exam centers will be on a “first-apply-first-allot” basis, and once a center has reached its maximum capacity, it will be rendered frozen. Candidates who are unable to opt for their center of choice will have to choose a center from the remaining options.
