Nothing is impossible for a determined mind. 25-year-old Yash Sonakia has proved this statement right. Sonakia, who hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh has bagged a salary package of INR 47 lakh from Microsoft and is looking forward to joining Company’s Bengaluru office as a software engineer. Let’s read more about his inspiring journey.
A tough ride to success
Yash Sonakia has a humble family background. His father runs a small canteen in the District Court while his mother is a housewife. Born with glaucoma, Sonakia’s vision weakened as years passed, and by the age of 8, he became completely blind. But this did not deter his childhood dream of becoming a software engineer. He scored 88% in the class 10 Board examination and selected mathematics and science in class 11 to pursue his goal. However, it wasn’t an easy ride for him.
From accessing science books for the visually impaired to taking written exams, Sonakia’s journey was full of hurdles. Thanks to screen-reader software and computer-based tests, he braved everything and finally completed his engineering at Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore. During his graduation, Sonakia learned coding and practiced for several hours to hone his skills.
Commenting on his achievement, he said, “After completing my studies, I started looking for a job and applied at Microsoft. After an online examination and interview, I was selected for the post of a software engineer in the company.”
As per him, very few companies in the world judge candidates solely based on knowledge and Microsoft is one of those. Yash Sonakia’s parents are elated after his success. His father said, “My son is my pride and has proved himself. His dream of becoming a professional software engineer has finally come true after a lot of struggle.”
