BITSAT Overview
Duration | 3 Hours (No sectional time limit) |
Mode | Online |
Type of questions | Objective, MCQs |
Total no. of questions | 130 |
Maximum marks | 390 |
Marking scheme | Correct Answer: +3; Incorrect Answer: -1 |
No. of sections | 4 |
No. of attempts | 2 (max) |
Let’s study these aspects in detail:
No. of sessions and attempts: Candidates can take the BITSAT exam twice. This is the maximum number. BITSAT uses the term "sessions" to refer to the two potential application periods.
BITSAT offers flexibility in choosing when you take the exam within a designated testing window. You can choose one date within this window to sit for the exam.
- One Session: You apply during the main application window and can only take the exam once within the designated testing window.
- Both Sessions: You apply during the extended application window (typically opens after the results of the first session are declared) and are eligible to take the exam twice within the testing window. The higher score from your two attempts will be considered for admission.
Duration: The duration of the exam is three hours, during which candidates are required to answer multiple-choice questions covering subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning.
It's also important to note that there are no sectional time limits in BITSAT. This means that candidates have the flexibility to allocate their time across different sections based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Marking Scheme & Exam Pattern: 130 MCQs, i.e., Multiple Choice Questions across four sections. For each correct answer, candidates score 3 marks and for each incorrect answer, they lose one mark (-1 mark). If a question is not attempted, no marks are awarded or deducted.
