When I received calls from top MBA colleges in India -By Tushar Swami from DBE DU

Every year, over 2 lakh aspirants apply for CAT(Common Admission Test) exam. In 2018, the number of applicants was reported to be the highest in the last 10 years. According to IIM Calcutta, it was 2.47 Lakhs. So it's not too hard to admit that the competition is pretty intense. I'm sure all the aspirants might be aware of the total number of seats in the top management institutes. While some might be daunted just by the thought of it. It was a golden phase when I received calls from top MBA colleges in India.

When I joined classes at IMS Institute

I understand that feeling! It was quite apprehensive for me to be in this race and excel in it. I took classes from IMS Institute (Delhi) and regularly used to surf online portals for tips and tricks to nail the CAT exam. Most importantly, I used to visit Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)in order to get some interesting tips and gain some skills needed to excel in an MBA. So, thank you Dare2Compete!

Now coming back to CAT's preparation, the most important thing for me was to work on the weaker areas. The award goes to Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DI-LR), the section that was always confusing and mysterious to me. For that, I referred to MBA Universe and my IMS Portal's content. I began with the basic questions and then moved a level-up every week.

I learned the basics soon. All I needed was to hone the skill of self-practice. And believe me, managing a job and studies together was never easy. It was more like coming home after 12 hours and trying to gain the strength to open your books. This is the sole origin of the strong will-power that I possess today. I sometimes study while traveling in the metro from my office to my home. It was tiring, but it was worth it. And in the last days, I spent 10 to 12 hours per week solving mock tests.

When I secured 95 percentile and made way into the top MBA colleges in India

And my hard work paid-off soon. I secured 95 percentile and reached the GD-PI in 9 IIMs, BITS Pilani, DoMS (IIT Roorkee), DSE (DU), and DBE (DU). For the next two months, all I had to do was to prepare for my group discussion and interviews. My IMS Mentor helped me a lot while Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)also played a vital role as it provided me quality content in the PrepTalk section.

I cleared all the interviews except the one from IIM Rohtak. Now I had to make the final choice. I went with the Department of Business Economics and the University of Delhi because of its specialized MBA program in Data Science and Analytics. Due to some family reasons, I could only study in Delhi.

When my efforts came to fruition

In the past year, DBE has given me a lot. I have grown up here on the intellectual front as well as a person. With some of the top firms visiting the campus, DBE provides you the best Return on Investment (ROI). It has the most competitive course structured with an eclectic blend of economics, marketing, finance, and analytics. So I can confidently say that my journey to DBE was really good. The efforts came into fruition.

So, here I sign-off. Good luck with your preparations and have a good day.
