YES BANK Transformation Series 2018 Y-Star Top Tier Winner IIFT's Srimoyee Bhattacharya's Story
YES BANK has been a pioneer in launching this coveted competition YES BANK Transformation Series. They launch case studies after collaborating with the biggest brands. Moreover, the solution has to be provided keeping in mind the different aspects of the problems they pose. For me, it was a mammoth learning experience. It benefited me in a way words can't portray.
I have always believed in a pedagogy structured in a way so as to invoke the creative side as well as to nurture the knowledge base of the person learning by practical examples. Earlier, I had participated and won other competitions which gave an unparalleled boost to my morale. Hence, I decided to plunge into YES BANK Transformation Series 2018.
Each one of us took up different segments of the perishable supply chain. Then, we did comprehensive research on each segment and found out the problems which actually augments the wastage of perishable food items. The next part was to use the technological advancements as done by Cisco, so as to automate the supply chain. Here, we made different supply chain models for each segment.
The last phase was creating a timeline in which they can start implementing the changes. We carried end-to-end research for the problem statement for which we were putting in all-nighters for 15-20 days. We brainstormed for long hours in order to get hold of the crux of the problem statement and discussed our individual model for solving the same.
The most challenging phase was to collaborate and combine each of our solutions and make the final presentation with the models, as there was a word limit. The solution we provided, touched every aspect of improving the perishable supply chain by collaborating with a technological powerhouse like Cisco.
Our team 'The Three Musketeers' was one of the best teams I have ever worked with. The team members were brilliant with their ideas and had a vast repository of knowledge on the problem statement. The experience was a life-changing one and we did partner for other competitions as well. We never actually had any conflict and became great friends after working as a team.
Our team’s forte was each member’s unique strengths. Piyush came up with creative solutions and proffered the practical examples. Having trade as his forte, Avinash brought in international trade logistics and applied his designing skills to make a graphically rich presentation. I was good with the research part and left no stone unturned in researching every single paper available online.
There were 14 teams in the finale of YES BANK Transformation Series 2018. Our toughest competitor was definitely the team from IIM Bangalore. They had brilliant presentation skills and a very structured approach for the solutions. Standing in front of the judgement panel comprising of 13 eminent members, was something I will never forget along with the interactive sessions with the famous writer Rashmi Bansal.
The learning experience has been exceptional. The knowledge I garnered from theoretical subjects was nothing in comparison to the actual research we did. The competition was brilliant in terms of judgement quality and the way they organized it, was magnificent, to say the least. It was such a smooth stay in Mumbai for a brief period of 3 days. The experience was once in a lifetime, and the organizers of YES BANK Transformation Series 2018 surpassed all our expectations.
