All that you need to know about War of Brands, 2019

Event Details:
The rivalry between Pepsi & Coke or Apple & Samsung sounds too clichéd. In this edition of WOB get ready to act as popular yet uncommon rivals in a war of uncommon.

Event Format:
The event comprises of different facets of ambush marketing where teams have to outshine their rivals by showcasing their creativity. The event shall be conducted in three rounds. Participants have to register in teams of two. Registration for WOB is opened from 4th February 2019 to 9th February 2019. There shall be 20 brands with 2 rival brands in every category. Teams shall be randomly allotted a brand after registration.

Round 1:
On 9th February 2019, teams will be assigned a brand inside a category. Every team has to then submit a print ad or a video which best advertises the brand. Teams will have the freedom to use their creativity in the submissions. The submission can be supplemented with any relevant text/jingles/taglines. Teams have to submit their entries by 11th February 2019 (Monday), 23:59:59 hrs at the following email id: markathon.iims@gmail.com

Subject: TeamName_WOB_Round1

Deliverables: A single poster and/or a video along with the relevant text and please restrict the file size to 10 MB.

Round 2:
The best entries will be selected from the 1st round and pitched against their competitors. Submissions of rival pairs of teams shall be uploaded on Facebook by us on 11th February 2019 (Monday). Teams have to then submit a troll poster (or video) of their opponent team’s submission. This submission shall be similar in format to the first round and shall be mailed to us at markathon.iims@gmail.com

Deadline for Round 2 submission is 13th February 2019 (Wednesday), 23:59:59 hrs

Round 3:
From 14th February (Thursday) – 15th February (Friday) 09:00:00


The finalists’ entries will be posted on our FB page: markathon.iims

Teams will have 2 days to make this battle as fiery as they can. In the final round teams have to compete against their rival brands inside the same category/industry by criticizing and retaliating against their rival’s posters and brand communication. Teams have to comment on their competitor’s poster (from the first round) and defend rival comments on their own posters. Comments can be in any format. Comments after 15th February (Friday) 09:00:00 will not be considered.


Winners: Results shall be finalized based on submissions from all three rounds. Winners will be announced on 15th February 2019 (Friday).

3. Teams will receive their brand allocations by email. Please use the mail subject as mentioned for your submissions.

5. While we acknowledge that Marketing is not bound by norms and standards, we would appreciate if the participants refrain from using language or content that could hurt communal or moral sentiments.
