Ad Savvy: Marketing Ad-Making Competition: Stages and Timelines
Online Preliminary Round
Round 1: Online Submission Stage
Objective: Create a 45-second to 1-minute video advertisement demonstrating your team’s creativity for a technology or digital services brand of your choice.
Languages: Hindi, English, or both (regional dialects allowed up to 15 seconds with subtitles in all languages).
Advertisement Duration: Minimum - 45 seconds, Maximum - 60 seconds.
Offline Round (Finals)
The top 7 teams will face off in a creative and strategic marketing challenge, where they will be tasked with creating and presenting an advertisement campaign for a given product or service. Teams can either shoot the video or use clips from existing videos. The format includes teams receiving a brief about the problem statement on the spot, with 24 hours for preparation. The video duration should be between 90-120 seconds, and the presentation time will be 5-7 minutes per team. The evaluation will be done by a panel of expert judges based on creativity, relevance, presentation skills, and marketing impact.

Eligibility:
- Open to students currently enrolled in any recognized college or university.
- Cross-institutional teams are permitted.
Team Composition:

Teams can consist of 2-4 members, including both active and non-active contributors.
Round 1: Online Submission Stage
- Evaluation Parameters:
- The ability to capture and retain audience interest.
- Innovative and impactful advertisement concepts.
- Originality and creativity in execution.
- Overall content quality, thematic consistency, and presentation.
- Guidelines:
- Submissions must be the team’s original work and should not violate any third-party rights.
- Content should be suitable for a public audience; inappropriate material will result in disqualification.
- Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
- Use of soundtracks is allowed with no time restriction, and up to one minute of stock footage may be used with proper credits.
- Advertisements should be created or shot in high resolution for optimal evaluation.
- Featuring live actors in the advertisement is optional.
- Top 7 performing teams from this round will advance to Round 2.
Round 2: On-Campus Finals
- Venue: IIT Roorkee Campus
- Evaluation Parameters:
- Creativity and uniqueness of the advertisement.
- Relevance to the assigned product or theme.
- Execution quality and presentation style.
- Entertainment factor and audience appeal.
- Rules:
- All content must be produced during the event and should be entirely original.
- Teams should bring their own equipment, including cameras, laptops, and other devices required.
- Bold, creative, and humorous approaches are encouraged.
- Only registered team members from Round 1 can participate; no substitutions or additional participants are allowed.
- Any event-specific rules, especially those related to surprise elements, will be disclosed closer to the finals.
General Guidelines:
- Submissions for Round 1 must be provided via a Google Drive link with public access enabled.
- Each team can submit only one entry, and the team leader is responsible for ensuring proper submission.
- Participants cannot join multiple teams or submit duplicate entries.
- There is no limit to the number of teams participating from a single institution.
- Deadlines for submissions are final; late entries will not be accepted.
- Any rule violations may result in penalties, including disqualification.
- Video submissions can include humor, social awareness themes, or serious tones and may feature animations or live performances
Judges' Decision:
- The decisions made by the judging panel will be final and binding on all participants.
This competition is a part of COMET’25 and is brought together in collaboration with DOMS IIT Roorkee and will be held on 8th-9th February 2025 at the IIT Roorkee Campus. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to showcase your creativity and innovation!

About Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee
- The University of Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee, was established as the Thomason College of Engineering in the year 1847, and was converted to the First Technical University of India in the year 1949.
