Agrobe: Stages and Timelines

An abstract of the idea needs to be uploaded on the Cognizance website before 28 February 2024.

Offline Round

FULL PAPER SUBMISSIONS : The teams will present their respective papers/posters through a PowerPoint Presentation (10 minutes long) in front of a panel of judges during Cognizance, 2024.This round will be held in offline mode during Cognizance 2024 (March 15 - 17).

Precision agriculture involves the precise management of resources such as water, fertilizers, pesticides, and energy to maximize yields while minimizing environmental impact. This case study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of precision agriculture, including its key technologies, applications, and implications for sustainable farming practices. Participants are encouraged to delve into real-world examples and challenges associated with the adoption of precision agriculture techniques.

Participants are invited to submit comprehensive case studies that address the following problem areas within the overarching theme:

  • Technology Integration in Precision Agriculture: Explore case studies on the successful integration of technologies such as GPS, sensors, drones, and data analytics in precision agriculture. Analyze the impact on resource efficiency, crop monitoring, and overall farm management.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making in Farming: Investigate how data-driven decision-making processes contribute to the success of precision agriculture. Present case studies that highlight the use of data analytics and machine learning in optimizing planting, harvesting, and irrigation decisions.
  • Challenges and Opportunities in Precision Agriculture Adoption: Examine the challenges faced by farmers and agricultural communities in adopting precision agriculture techniques. Explore case studies that showcase successful strategies for overcoming barriers and promoting widespread adoption.
  • Environmental Sustainability and Precision Agriculture: Assess the environmental implications of precision agriculture practices. Present case studies that explore how precision agriculture contributes to sustainable farming, reduces environmental impact, and promotes biodiversity.
  • Economic Impact and Return on Investment: Investigate the economic aspects of precision agriculture. Analyze case studies that showcase the financial impact of precision farming, including the return on investment for farmers, cost-effectiveness, and the potential for improving overall farm profitability.

Guidelines:

  • Eligibility: Students pursuing Undergraduate/Master’s Degrees in any discipline.
  • Team size:  A team can have a maximum of 5 members.
  • No double-trouble: Only one entry would be acceptable. In the case of multiple entries, the first one would be taken by default. 
  • Plagiarism of more than 30% will not be allowed.

Note to Participants:

  • This case study seeks to provide insights into the transformative potential of precision agriculture while addressing challenges and opportunities in its adoption. Participants are encouraged to present innovative solutions, best practices, and lessons learned to contribute to the ongoing evolution of sustainable farming practices.

About Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee

  • The University of Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee, was established as the Thomason College of Engineering in the year 1847, and was converted to the First Technical University of India in the year 1949.
