Case Release & Video Submission Round

The problem statement will be released as a case study, and the participating teams are expected to submit a 2-minute video explaining their understanding of the problem, outlining a structured approach or plan, and presenting a feasible, innovative solution with clear reasoning and impact.

Treasure Hunt

All registered students can solve the mysteries that lie ahead as they deduce the final key to all the answers. The clues to the treasure hunt will be given at @airtelunplugged Instagram handle. This is not an elimination round. Top-performing teams from this round will be rewarded with Airtel Black vouchers.

Executive Summary Submission Round

Shortlisted teams are required to submit a 2-slider executive summary document in PDF format, detailing their approach, competitive landscape, and clearly outlining the final aspects and impact of the proposed solution.

Mentorship Phase & Leadership Connect

The teams selected for the grand finale will have the opportunity to interact with an Airtel leader until the grand finale, who will mentor them on their solution and give them an internal perspective.

Grand Finale Submission

Shortlisted teams will have to make the final submission for the Grand Finale.

Grand Finale

The top 15 finalist teams will interact with the jury and showcase their detailed solution at the Grand Finale. The Airtel team will oversee and manage all travel arrangements for shortlisted participants.

Eligibility Criteria: The competition is open to all full-time 2nd-year Flagship MBA students. Students currently pursuing part-time, distance learning, and executive MBA programs are not eligible to participate in the same list of B-Schools. 

Team Formation Guidelines:

  • Teams should consist of exactly 3 members, ensuring diversity in gender & specialization representation.
  • Participants should be from General Management, Human Resources, and Supply Chain Management specializations.
  • They should be full-time students from the campus.
  • Cross-specialization teams are allowed to participate. 
  • One participant cannot be a member of more than one team.
  • There is no restriction on the number of teams from a particular institute.
  • Any deviation from the above-mentioned guidelines will result in the immediate disqualification of the entire team.

Competition Structure:

Treasure Hunt:

  • All registered students can solve the mysteries that lie ahead as they deduce the final key to all the answers.
    • The clues to the treasure hunt will be given at @airtelunplugged Instagram handle.
  • The treasure hunt will be held along with the campus launch event.
  • Students will be able to access the treasure hunt from 12:00 PM, 25th July 2025 onwards.
  • They will be able to play the hunt from the competition page itself.
  • Teams won't be assessed based on this round, and it is a non-eliminatory round.

Case Release & Video Submission Round: 

  • Only registered teams can access the case study problem statement.
  • Your 2-minute MP4 video should clearly demonstrate your understanding of the problem, outline a structured approach or plan, and present a feasible, innovative solution with clear reasoning and impact.
  • Submission Format: MP4 Video.
  • The case files and submission templates can be downloaded from the respective round.
  • Naming Convention: TeamName_CampusName
  • Team leaders need to upload the submission file latest by 3rd August 2025, 11:59 PM.
  • All submissions across all rounds will be evaluated by Airtel, and the decision will be final & binding.

Executive Summary Submission Round:

  • Shortlisted teams must submit a 2-page PPT (in PDF format) that provides a detailed drill-down of their approach, analyzes the competitive landscape, and clearly outlines the final aspects and impact of their proposed solution.
  • Submission Format: PDF.
  • The case files can be downloaded from the respective round.
  • Team leaders need to submit their entries latest by 17th August 2025, 11:59 PM.
  • Naming Convention: TeamName_CampusName.
  • The top 10 finalist teams will be shortlisted for the Grand Finale.

Mentorship Phase & Leadership Connect:

  • The teams selected for the grand finale will have the opportunity to interact with an Airtel leader until the grand finale, who will mentor them on their solution and provide an Airtel perspective on the solution.

Grand Finale:

  • National Finalists will present their 10-pager PPT solution (entire solution concept with details like marketing, financials, execution plans, etc.) to a jury for the grand finale.
  • The deadline for the Grand Finale Submission is Monday, September 1st, 2025.
  • The National Finale will be held at the Airtel HQ in Gurgaon, and teams will be given 8 minutes to present.
  • Travel arrangements will be made by the Airtel team.
  • Date: September 3, 2025.

Mergers & Acquisitions:

  • In February 2021, Airtel agreed to acquire a 20% stake in Bharti Telemedia from Warburg Pincus.
  • Telenor India: In the 1st quarter of the financial year 2017-18, Airtel acquired a formal approval from Securities and Exchange Board of India for the acquisition of Telenor India, from which the telecommunication giant gained 43.4 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.
  • Tikona Digital Networks: In the 2nd quarter of the financial year 2017-18, Airtel completed the acquisition of Tikona Digital Networks Private Limited for approximately Rs. 1600 crore. This gave Airtel access to the latter’s 350 cellular sites in 5 circles.
  • Millicom International Cellular: In the 3rd quarter of the financial year 2017-18, Airtel Rwanda acquired Millicom International Cellular to combine their telecommunications operations in Ghana. This acquisition was approved by Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) in the 4th quarter of the FY 2017-18.

  • Sunil Bharti Mittal: The current Chairman and Founder of Bharti Enterprises, the parent company of Airtel, Sunil Bharti Mittal is an Indian billionaire and philanthropist. Alumni of Harvard Business School, he was also awarded Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honor in the year 2007.
