Event Overview
Ekonनीति – The Economics and Public Policy Club of IIM Shillong proudly presents Anveshan 2025, the first-ever inter-B-school Model United Nations (MUN) hosted by IIM Shillong. This offline event provides a prestigious platform for participants to engage in high-level discussions on pressing global issues, simulate real-world diplomatic negotiations, and enhance their public speaking and analytical skills.
Set in the heart of the "Abode of Clouds," this event offers a unique blend of intellectual rigor and cultural exploration, with selected participants getting the opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of Shillong and Meghalaya.
Event Format & Rounds
Round 1: Preliminary Elimination Round
- Participants must submit a 2-minute video, acting as a diplomat/delegate of India, presenting India’s official stance based on its foreign policy. We are not looking for personal opinions; rather, we seek a well-researched argument that aligns with India's global positioning.
- Topics:
- The Economics of Sanctions - Balancing Political Influence and Global Trade Stability.
- Conflict Analysis - Assessing the recent crisis in Sudan and its implications for regional stability.
- Submission Guidelines:
- The video should be uploaded as an unlisted YouTube video, and the link will be shared through the portal.
- The top contenders from Round 1 will be invited to participate in the offline event at IIM Shillong.
Round 2: On-Campus MUN (Final Round) – IIM Shillong
- The selected participants will compete in a 3-day offline MUN conference at IIM Shillong, from 27th February to 1st March 2025.

- United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
- United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
- Participants will engage in formal debates, crisis management, and diplomacy, simulating real-world international diplomacy.

Not at all! While experience is beneficial, we welcome both beginners and seasoned MUN participants. - Can I participate individually?
Yes, only individual participation is allowed. - What is the evaluation criteria for Round 1?
Submissions will be judged on clarity of thought, articulation, research depth, and diplomatic perspective. - What expenses are covered for shortlisted candidates?
IIM Shillong will provide accommodation and meals. Travel expenses are to be borne by participants. - Can I choose my committee for the final round?
Committee allocation will be based on availability and subject to organizer discretion. - Is there a dress code for the offline round?
Yes, all participants are required to dress in formal Western attire during the MUN sessions.
