All that you need to know about Decode To Conquer: Product Case Competition

Decode to Conquer 4.0: An online product management case competition by PMTech - the Product Management Club of IIM Calcutta.

Round 1: Online Quiz 

  • This stage will be a proctored quiz on Unstop. 20 minutes will be provided to solve 20 questions from Technology and Product Management.
  • The round will be live for a 30-minute window.
  • Start Date: 10th Nov 2023, 09:00 PM IST
  • End Date: 10th Nov 2023, 09:30 PM IST

Round 2: Case Submission Round

  • Shortlisted teams will submit their ideas in the form of a presentation with not more than 3 slides (excluding cover slides) for the given case
  • Start Date: 11th Nov 2023, 12:00 AM IST
  • End Date: 17th Nov 2023, 11:59 PM IST

Round 3: Final Presentation Round

  • The top 8 teams shortlisted from Round 2 will present their submissions in front of the panel in online mode. The panel will evaluate the performance based on the 8-minute presentation + 2-minutes of Q&A
  • Start Date: 19th Nov 2023, 12:00 AM IST
  • End Date: 19th Nov 2023, 11:59 PM IST

Rules and Regulations:

  • This is a team event with each team consisting of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 participants, all of whom must be enrolled in a graduate or a post-graduate program at the time of the submission. 
  • Each team must have a team leader.
  • Only the submissions made by teams before the deadlines will be used.
  • Cross-college teams are not allowed.
  • Cross-year teams within in same college are allowed.
  • An institute can have any number of teams participating. However, if a team member is found participating as a part of more than one team, all such teams shall be disqualified.
  • The competition consists of 3 Rounds, each round is an elimination round, the first is the online quiz, the second is the case submission and the third is the final presentation round.
  • The top 30 teams will be chosen from Round 1 to submit their case.
  • The top 8 teams from Round 2 will be given the chance to present their submissions at the 7 Lakes Fest.
  • The submissions made in the second round will only be considered for the final round presentation. Any changes made to this submission might lead to the disqualification of the team.

Evaluation criteria: Quality of submissions + novelty of approach

Competition Structure (in detail):

Online Quiz:

  • Only the Team leader, the student who registered for the test, will be able to attempt the quiz round.
  • This round will comprise 20 questions to be attempted in a 20-minute proctored window and will test out your knowledge about technology and product management.
  • Every team will be ranked on Accuracy + Speed (Time Taken) + End Time i.e., if two teams have the same score, then the team that finished earlier will be ranked higher.
  • Teams will move on to the next level based on their performance in this quiz round.
  • Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.

Case Submission Round:

  • Shortlisted teams from the quiz round will have to participate in this Case Submission round.
  • A problem statement will be shared over email with the shortlisted candidates.
  • Teams should submit their ideas in the form of a presentation with not more than 3 slides (excluding cover slides) for the given case.
  • You’ll be able to make submissions until the deadline for this level anytime during the challenge window.
  • Participating teams in this level will move on to the next level based on their performance.

Final Presentation Round (Online):

  • The top 8 teams shortlisted from Round 2 will present their submissions in front of the panel.
  • The panel will evaluate the performance based on the 8-minute presentation + 2 minutes of Q&A.

Terms & Conditions:

  • All decisions in matters of eligibility, authenticity, and final judgments will be with the organizing committee - PMTech Club, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
  • The format and structure of events on campus could be subject to change before the actual beginning of the event.
  • The decisions of the organizers will be final and binding on all participants.
