Micromouse: Stages and Timelines

Final Event

There will be two offline rounds organized by Technex '25 at IIT (BHU) Varanasi.

All that you need to know about Micromouse

The Micromouse competition is a robotics competition that challenges participants to design, build, and program a small autonomous robot capable of navigating a maze. The primary objective is for the robot, or "Micromouse," to find its way from a predetermined starting point to the center of a maze as quickly as possible. The maze typically consists of a grid of interconnected pathways with dead ends, twists, and turns.

Guidelines:

  • A team can consist of a maximum of 5 members.
  • Only students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in any field are eligible to participate.

Rules:

  • The official time for a participant is based on the shortest time it takes them to complete the maze.
  • The micro-mouse is granted a maximum of 7 minutes to navigate the maze, from the start of the timer.
  • Performance evaluation factors include search penalty, defined as the cumulative time spent outside of successful runs, and touch penalty, representing the frequency of wall contact.

Bot Dimensions:

  • The Micromouse cannot be larger than 16 centimeters in length or width. If it changes shape during a run, its dimensions should still not exceed 16 cm x 16 cm.
  • There's no restriction on height.
