Paper Presentation: Stages and Timelines
Paper Presentation Summary Submission
A unique event requiring knowledge, research and laudable presentation skills. The participants will be tested on their insight towards the topics of their own choosing and stage their findings and research work in front of a jury. They shall be required to speak on their presentation and answer any questions posed by the judges or the audience. The event shall comprise of two rounds, an online round and an on-campus round.

The teams must first register on technex website: https://www.technex.co.in
The event consists of two rounds:
The first round shall be an online round and shall be conducted in the following fashion:
- The topics will be allotted to the participating teams randomly on the basis of their technex ID. The team leader should take modulo 13 of his/her technex ID and the answer would be the topic allotted to the team. For eg. technex ID is TX1375. Take modulo 13 of 1375 which is 10. Therefore, you are allotted topic no. 10.
- The teams will have to submit a summary on the topic via email to info.astronomyclub@gmail.com with the subject as "Paper Presentation 2020" and mention the team leader's Technex ID.
- A total of 10 teams will be shortlisted and will be invited for the on-campus round to be held at IIT(BHU), Varanasi.
The shortlisted teams will be provided with research papers on their topic. They will have to present the research paper in the form of a PowerPoint presentation in front of the jury. The presentation must contain all the major points and the essence of the research paper provided to them. The presentation may also contain any more relevant points which shall fetch bonus points. It shall be conducted in the following fashion:
- The shortlisted teams will have to submit their completed PPTs beforehand by 13th February 2020 via email to info.astronomyclub@gmail.com
- The teams will then have to present their work in front of a jury and fellow teams and answer any questions posed to them.
- The team with the best scores shall be proclaimed the winner.
Note: The participants are advised to have peripheral knowledge about the topic as well.
Rules:
Team Structure:
- A maximum of three members can participate in a team.
- Intercollege teams are allowed.
Rules for Round 1:
- It is mandatory for all the teams to choose the topic given on the list according to the above guidelines. No other topic will be accepted.
- The teams should submit the summary by 25th January.
Rules for round 2:
- All the teams must be present at the venue 10 minutes prior to the starting time.
- After abstract submission, no changes in the team will be allowed.
- Each team shall be given 7 minutes for presenting and 3 minutes for subsequent QnA.
- The teams will be judged on several criteria such as accuracy, presentation skills, plagiarism, etc.
General Rules:
- In case of any disputes and disagreements, Astronomy Club’s decision will be final
and abiding. - The Astronomy Club reserves the right to change the rules if the need arises.
- Use of unfair means in any form shall lead to immediate disqualification from the
event.

About Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT - BHU)
- The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi is situated on the campus of Banaras Hindu University spread over nearly 1300 acres at the southern end of the ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the holy river Ganga.
- The Banaras Hindu University was established by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji in the year 1916.
- This Banaras Hindu University has teaching and research facilities in over 135 diverse disciplines including ancient history, oriental learning, performing and fine arts, management, science, social sciences, etc.
- Later on, BHU started engineering education by being the first in the country to start degree courses in mining, metallurgy, ceramic engineering and pharmaceutics with the establishment of the College of Mining and Metallurgy and the College of Technology in the year 1923 and 1932 respectively.
- In 1969, the above three colleges were amalgamated to form the Institute of Technology.
- On 29th June 2012, the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), got converted into Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi by the Government of India, New Delhi.
