PokerMania : Poker Bot Showdown: Stages and Timelines

Round 1 (Online)

In Round 1 of PokerMania participants will upload their bots and compete in the online virtual poker room.

Participants are required to submit their bots by the deadline i.e 9th Feb, link for the same along with detailed ps will be provided on 30th Jan 2025.

**UPDATE**- The PS for Round 1 has been released please find it in the attachment section. The submission deadline for round 1 is 9 FEB 2025. Please find all the required details in the PS

Offline Round

Round 2 of PokerMania will be conducted on-campus of IIT BHU and participants are requested to be present there at the time of the round.

All that you need to know about PokerMania : Poker Bot Showdown

PokerMania- a unique competition where participants design and upload their own poker-playing bots. The competition allows participants to test their coding, strategic, and poker-playing skills by competing against bots from other teams. The bots will navigate through intense rounds of bluffing, betting, and tactical play, aiming to emerge victorious.

Rounds: The event will consist of 2 rounds as described:

  • Round 1- Online Qualifying Round: 
    • Participants must code and upload their poker-playing bots to the event platform.
    • The bots will compete in a virtual poker room with a fixed number of chips.
    • The goal is to accumulate chips through strategic gameplay to either finish in the top percentile or meet a specified qualification threshold.
  • Round 2- On-site Final Round:
    • Finalists will upload their bots to compete for chip dominance using advanced strategies.
    • The bots will face off in multiple poker rounds, aiming to dominate their opponents' chips.
    • The top teams of Round 1 will move further to Round 2. The team having the highest chip count wins. 

Eligibility: The event is open to college-going students (undergraduate or postgraduate).

Teams:

  • The team can consist of 1-3 members.
  • Participants in a team may be from the same or different institutions and programs.

Timeline: 

  • Round 1: Submission deadline- 9th Feb 2025 (Participants upload their bots and compete in the online virtual poker room)
  • Round 2: Submission date- 1st Mar, 2025  (On-site)

Conduct: 

  • Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or unethical behavior will result in disqualification. 
  • Any bot found using unfair tactics or exploiting vulnerabilities will be disqualified.

About Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT - BHU)

  • The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi is situated on the campus of Banaras Hindu University spread over nearly 1300 acres at the southern end of the ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the holy river Ganga.
  • The Banaras Hindu University was established by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji in the year 1916.
  • This Banaras Hindu University has teaching and research facilities in over 135 diverse disciplines including ancient history, oriental learning, performing and fine arts, management, science, social sciences, etc.
  • Later on, BHU started engineering education by being the first in the country to start degree courses in mining, metallurgy, ceramic engineering and pharmaceutics with the establishment of the College of Mining and Metallurgy and the College of Technology in the year 1923 and 1932 respectively.
  • In 1969, the above three colleges were amalgamated to form the Institute of Technology.
  • On 29th June 2012, the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), got converted into Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi by the Government of India, New Delhi.
