About the Speakers:

Dr. Shamika Ravi

• Dr. Shamika Ravi is a Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India and holds the rank of Secretary to the Government of India. A distinguished economist, her work focuses on the economics of development, with expertise in finance, healthcare, urbanization, and gender equality. Dr. Ravi previously served as the Director of Research at Brookings India and Vice President of Economic Policy at the Observer Research Foundation. 
• With a PhD in Economics from New York University and a Master's from the Delhi School of Economics, her research is published extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals. For over two decades, she has been a visiting professor at top institutions like the Indian School of Business (ISB) and BITS School of Management, where she teaches Managerial Economics and Game Theory. Dr. Ravi is a prominent public intellectual who frequently contributes to national newspapers, making complex policy accessible to a wider audience.

Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik

• Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik is the Chief Economist at the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), where he leads macroeconomic research and policy-oriented studies. With over two decades of experience, he is a leading voice in India's financial landscape, known for blending data-driven analysis with strategic market perspectives. His expertise spans capital markets, ESG, financial inclusion, and investor behavior.
• Dr. Patnaik holds a PhD in Economics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), where his research focused on market microstructure. Before joining the NSE, he held key leadership roles at Mizuho Bank, Citigroup Global Markets, and Religare Capital Markets. His work provides a critical bridge between rigorous academic research and real-world financial strategy, making him a trusted expert on the Indian economy.
