Started with Instagram, now influencing students at IIMB!

Despite the failure to get into IIM Bangalore three years ago, influencer Sharan Hegde, famous among Instagrammers as Finance with Sharan, is now living his dream! An invite from IIM Bangalore as a guest speaker exceeds Sharan’s wildest expectations, all thanks to Instagram for turning his dreams into reality. 

Sharan wore his failures like armor suit and tapped the most lucrative side of Instagram— Influencer marketing— and using its powers, he is now helping people learn and advance their financial strategies. 

Meet Sharan Hegde— influencer, guest speaker at IIMB, and much more!

Former consultant, Sharan Hegde, worked with banks and NBFCs on strategic projects. He ventured into content development during the pandemic to spread his financial expertise. He covers a wide range of subjects, including mutual funds, insurance, tax, cryptocurrencies, and money psychology.

Hegde is currently one of the nation's most well-known financial influencers, having amassed more than 2 million followers on Instagram alone. His goals include changing Indians' perspectives on finance and making finance "fun." And just a few days ago, he was finally invited to IIM-Bangalore, not as a student but as a guest speaker.

Sharan Hegde abandoned his IIM goal three years ago. He failed to gain admission to the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore despite achieving a CAT score of 98 percentile. He subsequently dropped out of his American studies out of dissatisfaction to dabble in content creation, a professional path that would lead to success for him.

“My misplaced ego was such that either IIM A, B, C, or nothing. I now realize that was stupid- since later on a huge part of my professional journey was shaped by incredible colleagues from other IIMs,” he stated. 

The finance guy took to Instagram and LinkedIn and shared a heartfelt message with his audience. He reflected on his journey and shared the hardship of juggling internships, studies, and daily mock tests, all while earning a meager sum of INR 5000 as a stipend. 

From earning INR 5000 per month to becoming an angel investor and guest speaker at his dream institute, life has been full of surprises for Hegde. His journey has helped him put things into perspective and he is set to achieve bigger and better things.
