The world of social media influencers is expanding at an unprecedented rate. Instagram influencer marketing has become a lucrative industry in itself. Influencers across the globe are earning handsomely through paid marketing posts and collaborative campaigns. But there are some who are using the power of social media to extend a helping hand to their followers. One such Instagram influencer is Fathima Saniya who has made it her mission to help and mentor as many UPSC aspirants as she can, through her Instagram page.
A 2024 UPSC aspirant herself, Fathima has an interesting life story that led her to become an influencer and reach out to fellow aspirants. Let’s have a look at how her journey began.
Bookstagram Turned Into Studygram
Fathima started her page back in July 2020 as a Bookstagram where she gave out information on relevant books for UPSC aspirants. Over time the page naturally evolved into a Studygram that UPSC aspirants from all over the nation flock to, for sound advice. With 23K+ followers on the Insta page, Fathima has branched out to Telegram where she tries to personally interact with 5000+ followers.
Wisdom Born Out Of Life Experiences
They say- ‘Wisdom is the reward of experience and should be shared’. Fathima and her life experiences fit this quote to the T.
Originally born in a middle-class family from Kerela, she moved to Dubai with her family where she pursued secondary schooling. Life there wasn’t easy as she had hoped. Her struggles with the English language meant she could not catch up with schooling in the UAE. She also didn’t have a supportive network of friends to turn to. As a result, Fathima became clinically depressed at the age of 15.
The final blow for her family came when her father left his job, invested all their savings in a business, and ended up losing everything. It became impossible for them to sustain themselves in Dubai, and they were forced to move back to Kerela. This is when things started turning around for the teenager and she started taking charge of her life.
Struggles Can Be Your Stepping Stones
Fathima strongly believes that life does not end with struggles if you keep trying to better yourself and learn from those experiences. She hence decided to take charge of her education and become independent. She started amassing wisdom by borrowing books from the library and attending a multitude of classes.
Having experienced the feeling of being alone during her constructive years, Fathima was eager to reach out to others in similar situations and share her knowledge with them. This is when Instagram mentoring came into the picture. And today at 19 years of age, Fathima can proudly say that she is an independent girl who is guiding 23 thousand followers toward realizing their dreams.
Fighting The UPSC Blues
We all know that cracking UPSC is no easy feat. Preparing for the exams can take a toll on an aspirant's mental health. Having fallen into depression herself, Fathima lays due importance on mental well-being and wants to create awareness regarding the same. She thus uses her handles to give out UPSC prep advice and also promote sound mental health decisions amongst her followers. Fathima conducts regular UPSC orientations for her followers and shares effective topper strategies with them. Her approach to guiding her fellow UPSC aspirants is definitely working its magic and giving many UPSC coaching centers a run for their money.
