Failure is not the opposite of success but is a part of success. However, when one has to go through constant failures, it can break one’s spirit. But this was not the case with IAS Awanish Sharan.
Despite his not-so-appealing academic record, Awanish Sharan worked his way through to securing AIR 77 in the highly competitive UPSC Civil Services Examination. And for Sharan, it was indeed a walk to remember. The Chhatisgarh cadre IAS officer recently tweeted his academic track record that left the people on the social media platform astounded!
Failed more than 10 times in state PSC exams!
IAS officers are usually assumed to be toppers at school or college. Keeping in view the competition and pattern of the exam, candidates with poor academic records are not even considered eligible enough to take the civil service exam which is touted to be the toughest exam in India. However, Awanish Sharan’s story compels people to mend their misconceptions. Here is what the IAS officer tweeted:
मेरी यात्रा:

10वीं : 44.7%
12वीं : 65%

राज्य लोक सेवा आयोग: 10 से अधिक बार प्रारंभिक परीक्षा में फेल
UPSC सिविल सेवा परीक्षा :

2. दूसरे प्रयास में AIR 77
The awestruck and inspired people immediately responded to this. Here are some of the reactions.

A story that will inspire thousands of IAS aspirants
It is hard to understand the journey of any IAS aspirant. While some juggle family obligations and exam preparation, there are others who manage to make both ends meet while the dream of becoming an IAS officer twinkles in their eyes. Awanish Sharan’s story will be a source of inspiration to all such aspirants especially those who are considered a misfit for this exam because of their poor academic performance.
Quite interestingly, this is not the only time when Sharan’s tweet went viral. A couple of days back the IAS officer tweeted a picture of a truck carrying wooden logs with an eco-friendly message ‘plant more trees’ displayed at the back of the truck. The picture that was captioned as ‘Definition of irony’ also went viral. The officer perhaps understands how to keep the Twitterati glued to his posts!
