All that you need to know about Devil's Advocate
Devil’s Advocate is an event that tests the debating and critical reasoning capabilities of participants. This is an individual participation event wherein the participants would be randomly assigned a topic and they have to debate on it, except there is a twist – the participants would have to switch their stance after a pre-specified duration of time.
Clear logical reasoning is a key requirement for decision-making. This event would test whether the participants can clearly prove a point in a debate while acknowledging that valid counter-arguments exist.
The event will have two rounds. In the first round, the participants would have to submit a short essay on a topic, while arguing from both sides of the problem statement. Those from the first round that qualify for the second round would participate in the national finals, where they will have to debate in front of judges.
