Nukkad Natak: Street Play Event: Stages and Timelines
Elimination Round
Participants will have to submit a PDF file containing the following things in advance: name of college, list of participants, script (slight modifications are allowed), and link to the 10-minute video of part of the final performance.
Offline Round
On the basis of the performance, 10 teams will qualify for the finals at Unmaad. The shortlisted teams will be informed via email & on unstop at least two weeks prior to the event

Amidst the vibrant tapestry of crowded streets, where life pulsates with energy and stories unfold on every corner, we present to you the soul-stirring art of Nukkad Natak. Welcome to an immersive experience where the raw essence of our society comes alive through the lens of street theatre. This Unmaad, we are embarking on a journey through the heart and soul of India, exploring the streets not just as thoroughfares but as stages where the narratives of our society unfold dramatically, unapologetically, and authentically. The stage is set, the streets are waiting, and if you believe your team has the power to infuse this event with the magic that only live street theatre can deliver, join us in this authentically Indian celebration.
Rules and Regulations:
- One team can have a maximum of 20 members. Maximum 2 teams from one college are allowed, but the script should be different
- Language used can be Hindi or English or mix of both
- Script should be original/self-written and should not be copied. If found guilty, it would result in disqualification of the team
- Vulgarity is strictly prohibited
- Use of flammable substances such as candles, matches or cigarettes or any alcoholic product during performance on stage is not allowed and will result in disqualification
- Any electronic device or recorded music is not allowed. Incase electronic devices are to be used as props, it should be informed to the Unmaad team at least 1 hour before the performance
- No team is allowed to spoil the stage (will lead to a penalty ranging from 10% to 20% of the final score decided by the judges). In any case the judge's decision will be final
- Travel should be arranged by the participants themselves. Accommodation to the non-Bangalore teams will be provided by the Unmaad team
Rounds:
Elimination Round:

Final Round:
- The maximum duration for the play is 25-30 minutes
- Teams exceeding the time limit will be penalized with a penalty of 10% of the score and those crossing 5 minutes extra time will be disqualified
- Teams have to bring their own props (including musical instruments) and costumes
- Teams are expected to perform at an open-air venue
- No mic would be provided during the final performance
Scoring Criteria:
- Script and Content: The script and content of the street play contains a weightage of 20 marks. Marks will be provided on the basis of the quality and content of the script, and how well you represent the issue
- Acting: Acting also contains a weightage of 20 marks. Marks will be provided on the basis of the body language and gestures of the participants
- Clarity of message: It is necessary that the message you want to provide to the audience must be clear, so a weightage of 10 marks is given to the clarity of the message.
- Creativity: Creativity includes how well the props, music, and body art are used in the performance, and the selection of the issues you want to represent. So 15 marks are assigned to creativity.
- Energy and audience engagement: No matter how good your content and actors are, it is of no use if there is no energy in the performance. So a weightage of 15 marks is assigned to the energy of the performance and audience engagement.
- Teamwork: One of the most important aspects responsible for success is the team work. So the team work contains 20 marks
