Due to the rising cases of coronavirus in Mumbai, several educational institutes have opted for an online route, to create a sense of normalcy in the lives of students. The induction program at KJ SIMSR, Mumbai itself was conducted on Zoom. Several online platforms like Zoom and Google Meets have proved to be a saving grace during the pandemic.
Stress-buster sessions
The induction program at KJ SIMSR, Mumbai, started on August 3, 2020. The entire program was virtual, with numerous activities lined up for the new batch of 2020-22. The induction commenced with a welcoming speech from the Director and Chairperson of the institute, who spoke about the ideals and values the college stands for.
Later on, we were briefed by our professors and the faculty about the basics of our upcoming subjects, in order to prepare us for our MBA journey. The induction program at KJ SIMSR, Mumbai also helped us calm our nerves and relax through several stress-buster sessions. Under these sessions, we danced away our worries, followed by a yoga and meditation class to promote mental well being,
We were also encouraged to explore the artist within us by engaging mandala art classes. Such sessions were definitely needed during these trying times!
From awkward silences to building bonds
I won’t sugarcoat it, meeting people online for the first time is filled with awkward silences! Initially, I was extremely nervous when it came to interacting with my batchmates. However, our seniors made sure we interacted with one another, especially since we were going to be spending the next two years together. Under the induction program at KJ SIMSR, Mumbai, several ice-breaking sessions and virtual games were conducted to get us acquainted with each other.
We played interactive games like Pictionary, and online quizzes, which pushed us to talk to everyone in our batch. By the end of this session, I was amazed by the sea of talent I was surrounded with. I learnt about the diverse backgrounds my batch mates came from, the languages they speak, and the culture they follow.
The induction program at KJ SIMSR, Mumbai, hinted at the hectic schedule we have ahead of us. It made me realise that every successful assignment and presentation I would be doing are fruits of those sleepless nights. One of the most important things I learnt during all of this was that one needs to be a good team player during their MBA journey. Otherwise, if you snooze, you lose!
