ABG HeadstaRt 2018 National Winner Amneet Kaur’s Story

The moment our team was announced as the winner, I was thrilled and stood up in utter excitement. I looked at my teammates and we stared at each other in incredulity. We couldn't believe that the journey that began one month ago would end like this! Competitions are by far the easiest way to understand what everyday work will be like after graduating from B-school.

I chose to take part in ABG HeadstaRt 2018 since it's the most premier HR corporate competition that opens for top B-schools and would have given me exposure for the role that I am looking to pursue further in life. Right from the moment I entered college, I had been hearing about this competition from my seniors and I knew I had to give my best shot.

After two business simulation rounds, we were offered a real-time business problem. The first part of our preparation involved knowing the problem from different perspectives. We had 4 days in hand and we went and spoke to various people- our professors, corporate employees, friends, relatives, etc., and referred various online articles to gain as many insights as we could about the problem.

Every member of our team had certain strengths that we capitalized on and certain weaknesses which we tried to make up for. We were able to question each other’s ideas whenever required because of which, the resultant output was the best version of our ideas. We tried to have an open communication which helped in quickly resolving the issues that came up during discussions.

The finale was a huge event wherein eight teams from different campuses came together for the final fight to win the ABG HeadstaRt 2018 crown. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences in my MBA journey. This month-long journey offered us the exposure and opportunity to work on real-time business problems. The way Aditya Birla Group managed the entire event was truly commendable. I am excited and looking forward to starting my internship with such a big conglomerate.
