In a bid to herald next-generation technology into regular usage, information services giant Accenture has announced plans to onboard 1,50,000 new hires who will be using Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to work from the metaverse on the first day.
As per reports, learning through virtual reality is 30% to 40% more productive than traditional means and Accenture wants to make a great use case of that in its work environment.

Recently, the company has launched the Accenture Metaverse Continuum business group which uses Web3 and Metaverse technology to create products that can transform our virtual experience. This business group is led by Paul Daugherty, who also serves as the chief technology officer at Accenture.
The tech consultancy giant has also created digital replicas of its offices in Bengaluru, Madrid & San Francisco. The idea behind it is to create familiar environments where people can meet and collaborate on a regular basis.
As per reports, there are 600 patents already lined up for the metaverse and the company looks to further scale up its business in the metaverse. The Irish MNC also plans to hire multiple Indians to join the business and be part of the scaling-up process.

With this shift in technology, the demand for new skills and specialized roles has also seen a rise. To summarize, the following digital skills are in high demand in the Metaverse:
- Distributed Ledger Experts
- Token Economists
- Unity & Unreal developers
- 3D Commerce experts
- Digital currency
- Digital asset markets
Other than that, the company will also require specialists in blockchain, gaming, and security.
In India, Accenture had already built a studio to work and experiment on different client requirements on the metaverse. The company has clarified that they are mainly working on two use cases for the metaverse:
- Internet of place (shared collaborative experience)
- Internet of identity (creating a unique identity for digital objects so that they can't be replicated)
Among Accenture's new clients for the metaverse technology is Mars Chocolate who had earlier worked with Accenture to digitize its supply chain. Now, the company is moving it to the metaverse through high-level digital simulations.
Clearly, it's an exciting time for tech enthusiasts and Accenture seems to be leading the way.
