Adobe offers 41 LPA to the daughter of an auto-driver; here are the whys and the hows!
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the country and the economy of the entire world to a great extent. Salary cuts, layoffs, loss of job opportunities are what everyone is dealing with right now. In a time when it seems like there is a dearth of job chances, an auto driver’s daughter Amruta Karande demonstrates that not every job opportunity is going away. Hard work, talent, and the right amount of perseverance can turn the tables. The INR 41 lakh annual pay package offered to the daughter of an auto driver in Kolhapur by Adobe bucks the trend.
The 21-year-old Amruta, who is still pursuing her fourth-year software engineering course at the Kolhapur Institute of Technology, got a pre-placement offer letter from US software giant Adobe to work for their Noida office as a Software Development Engineer (SDE).
Amruta hails from a humble middle-class family. Her father Vijaykumar is an autorickshaw driver while her mother Rajashree is a homemaker. Amruta says, "My parents have worked extremely hard to help me pursue my studies. I am glad that I can bring some joy to them.” She intends to undertake innovative research in the information technology and software sector in India.

The one-of-its-kind case of Amruta Karande
The Chairman of KIT, Sunil Kulkarni says, "Amruta has topped in the 'C' coding competition held by Adobe, after which she has done a two and a half month internship with the company where she was awarded a scholarship amounting to INR 1 lakh a month as remuneration for her efforts.”
During this period of her internship, Amruta displayed her merit by performing very well in various tests conducted by Adobe for the candidates. What followed was the chance to get placed at Adobe, one of the biggest firms across the globe, where she was offered an annual pay package of INR 41 lakhs as a pre-placement offer (PPO). This is indeed an unprecedented case from Western Maharashtra wherein a college girl has received such humongous tidings!
While this is the first of its kind case from western Maharashtra, it is a delight to see that there are companies like Adobe that offer such high scholarships and PPOs to female students in India. This is indicative of how much the IT and software industry needs more people such as Amruta who have the potential and desire to help us develop key skills along with becoming part of the future workforce.
From a bright student to a great engineer
Amruta’s father Vijaykumar said she was always a bright student throughout her academic career. He mentions, “She scored 97% in her SSC (Senior Secondary Certificate) exams. After she completed her HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) in Science, we wanted her to become a doctor. But she expressed interest in software engineering and secured admission in KIT College.”
Amruta has accepted the job offer, and she couldn't be happier. Not only does this mean she is now on track to complete her degree, but it also means that she'll have a position waiting for her upon completion! Amruta credits college administrators for helping her set up networking opportunities that have helped her and that will help other students in the coming future.
