Advantages and Disadvantages of Cloud Computing that you should know!

Traditional data centres were used by corporations to store information in the past. These were physical locations with a large number of computers and other hardware devices. As a result, new challenges arose, such as those related to storage capacity, pricing, and scalability. How do you believe corporations have dealt with these issues? Cloud Computing technology was the option that came to the rescue.

When you use cloud computing, you use the internet to access and store data. The internet is referred to by the term "cloud." Cloud computing has several advantages over traditional data centres, making it one of the hottest technologies. According to the study from Markets & Markets, an estimated 17.5 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is predicted for the global cloud computing industry between now and 2025.

Application of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is a model of service delivery for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. It provides application flexibility and choice by offering ubiquitous, unlimited access to a shared pool. Some of the major applications of cloud computing are:

Digital Data Storage Online Games
Big Data Analysis Evernote Application
e-commerce Facebook
e-learning Antivirus Applications

Advantages of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing has numerous advantages. However, these are only a few of the most critical ones that make the move to cloud computing necessary.

1. Low Cost

As a result of the cheap maintenance costs of operations, companies choose cloud computing reducing the expenses of hardware and software maintenance.

2. Improved Storage Capacity

For our critical documents, movies, photos, etc., cloud services provide us with the benefit of limitless storage space.

3. Faster Operation

Using cloud computing, your service may be up and running in a matter of minutes. Your system will have the resources it needs in no time thanks to this quicker deployment.

4. Back-up and Restore Data

In traditional data centres, data recovery and backup were tedious tasks. But, with a cloud, you can do it very easily.

5. Mobility

By utilising the internet, cloud computing enables an organization's employees to access cloud services. In this way, even those who work in faraway areas can get access to services.

6. Data Security

Cybercrime is on the rise as a result of digitalization. Data security is a major problem for businesses. Cloud technology fills this need for you. You can be certain that your information will be handled safely and securely.

7. Improved Freedom and Flexibility

It's more important for companies to focus on the day-to-day activities that generate revenues. Their core objective is hampered by hardware and other maintenance difficulties, which prevent them from focusing on their primary mission. Cloud computing, on the other hand, eliminates these problems. As a result, the cloud allows them to totally focus on their business.

8. Control of Data Quality

In the past, workers would save various versions of the same file that caused a lot of discrepancies in papers. The management authorities suffered as a result of this human mistake. The cloud, on the other hand, has permitted the storage of data in one location, and modifications are stored immediately. Data consistency is ensured by the cloud, retaining its quality.

9. Collaboration

Using the cloud, a file may be accessed by many individuals or groups of people at the same time. For example, you may share a Google document with others and participate without wasting time.

10. Sustainability

The cloud also has a positive impact on the planet. Due to the fact that the cloud is a digital notion, it eliminates the need for technology and paper, which reduces e-waste creation.

Disadvantages of Cloud Computing

A coin has two sides. Although the cloud is very advantageous, there are some disadvantages that you need to know:

1. Limited Control

The infrastructure of the cloud is completely owned by the service provider. Thus, cloud users have minimum control over the function and execution of services within a cloud infrastructure.

2. No offline access

For using the cloud, you need internet access. Thus, the downside is that when there is no internet connectivity, you can't access or modify the files.

3. Technical Issues

The cloud is also prone to technical issues. Although maintenance quality may be high, technical glitches (just like issues with internet connectivity) can occur just as they occur in any technology.

4. Bandwidth Issues

There is an upper limit to cloud bandwidth. So, if companies use above that threshold, additional charges will have to be paid.

Cloud Computing Job Opportunities

After being proficient in cloud computing skills, you can apply to a myriad of roles offering great packages. The list includes some of the options which you must know:

  • Cloud Network Engineer
  • Cloud Automation Engineer
  • Cloud System Administrator
  • Cloud Broker
  • Cloud Developer

Despite all the pros and cons of Cloud Computing, we can't dispute that it is the fastest expanding segment of network-based computing. Users, developers, companies, and all other sorts of organisations benefit from it, making the future of this technology bright.
