The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released another revised academic calendar for the year 2020-21. The council has allowed the extension of the admission process of UG first year engineering courses at AICTE-accredited universities and institutes and has shifted the deadline to 30 November. The classes will resume from December 1 according to the new calendar released.

Students can check the calendar from their official website.

Earlier, the notification released declared 20th october as the last date for admission. The session for the existing students of engineering, pharmacy, architecture and various other courses was scheduled to resume from August 16 and the academic session for the new batch was expected to commence from September 15. But due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and unsuitable circumstances for the reopening of universities and colleges, AICTE extended the last date for admission.

Previously, on August 13, AICTE had released the updated academic calendar, directing the affiliated universities to postpone first year classes. They also directed institutes and faculty members to conduct special classes for the students appearing for final year exams. The calendar released on July 9 stated that classes for existing students in technical courses were to begin from August 17. The new academic session was scheduled to commence from October 15.

However, due to uncertainty and no concrete news regarding the vaccine, the university issued a fresh guideline postponing the admission process till November 30 and commencement of classes till Dec 1.
