AIMA releases schedule for MAT 2018

All India Management Association (AIMA) has unleashed the final date and schedule for the MAT 2018. The examination will be held in two phases- the Paper-Based Test (PBT) will be conducted 2nd September and Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be held on 15th September 2018.

Aspirants can download their admit cards from the official website that is www.mat.aima.in. The MAT 2018 admit card of the PBT was declared last week. Admit cards for CBT will be available for download by 11th September 2018. The online registration for the CBT MAT 2018 examination will be done till 8th September 2018.

MAT (The Management Aptitude Test) is another such exam which is held for aspirants who wants to seek admission in one of the many management colleges across the country. Though the level of MAT is below CAT, which is typically conducted to qualify for IIMs, there are many well-known colleges who take in MAT score.

As an aspirant can apply for both PBT and CBT they get additional benefits. With two different scores a candidate can select two more additional schools apart from the 5 which is the regular limit; a total of seven.

MAT exam syllabus comprises five segments: Indian and Global Environment, Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. Competitors require an exhaustive grasp of intelligent and logical thinking, verbal capacity, information translation, quant, arithmetic and social mindfulness. The test has two hundred questions from these 5 different areas and the maximum time allotted for the test is 150 minutes.

Some quick tips for preparing for MAT 2018


Ideally, one should start preparing for competitive exams like MAT well in advance to grasp the entire essence of the syllabus. However, one can follow these quick tips-

    • Practice reading ‘Reading Comprehension’ passages every day and try to understand the meaning of the words in the context of a passage, as most of the questions will ask about a reference to context meanings.
    • Be thorough with all the rules of English grammar, mainly, subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, tenses etc.
    • As there is a limited amount of time in hand, aspirants can get books like Pratiyogita Darpan, Manorama Yearbook to get some quick update on general knowledge. A good general knowledge can help you score better in MAT 2018
    • For Quantitative Aptitude emphasise more on Arithmetic and Algebra-based questions as these are quite common in MAT exam pattern.

Selection process


According to the observed trends, MAT cut-offs can range between 70-80 percentile. The tentative date for declaration of MAT 2018 results is 21st September 2018.

AIMA does not hold any centralised counselling so the students can directly apply to various institutes of their choice. Institutes accepting MAT scores prepare a merit list and candidate are informed through call letters or via e-mail. Candidates need to visit the respective institute to finish off with their admission process.
