All there is to know about the selection process of Infosys -By Avik Pramanick from DoMS IIT Roorkee
IIT Roorkee witnessed the footprint of several big names offering lucrative profiles and packages in their final placement for the batch of 2018-20. Infosys was one of them who provided two of the most important profiles in consulting. The name itself is an introduction and a dream company for many B-School graduates. So here is an account of the selection process of Infosys, which can be helpful for many out there.
The selection process of Infosys
The entire process was divided into three rounds with every round being eliminatory in nature.
- Aptitude test
- Personal interview
- HR interview
Aptitude test
The aptitude test comprised of questions from quantitative ability, data interpretation, logical reasoning, verbal ability & decision making. The questions were not like general aptitude rather they were related to the business scenarios and real cases. Some audio and video questions were also there which sky-rocketed the level of the test. One needs to be very proactive with data and capable of making quick decisions with accuracy.
Tip: Brush up your aptitude regularly. It will help you to increase your accuracy.
Personal interview
The next round was the personal interview round which lasted for around 45 minutes. The questions were basically based on case studies where the interviewer narrated a real case and I was asked to provide a solution with an execution plan within 5-7 minutes. Next, he modified the case and asked to frame a new solution. Basically they were judging if one can provide quick consulting solutions to the clients or not.
Tips:
- Don’t study the management subjects for the sake of passing the exams or getting high grades rather focus on gaining some knowledge from it. Try to find out the practical implementation of everything you study.
- Solve as many case studies as you can.
- Read real business problems and try to figure out your own solutions.
- Be innovative and improve your presence of mind.
HR interview
This round was conducted to test the candidate’s soft skills and communication expertise. The questions asked were based on my profile. It was more of a discussion rather than an interview round. They were basically judging how much I know about myself. Then there were some questions on how I see my career with Infosys in this job role. The interview concluded with salary discussion and other formalities.
Tips:
- Take participation in B-School events, GDs and class presentations.
- Make team among your classmates and practice GDs, debates and mock interviews. This will help you to improve your communication skills and gain confidence in public speaking.
