The 7th edition of the Amazon Customer Excellence (ACE) Challenge was organized by Amazon, the world's most popular e-commerce brand.
It was a battle on three fronts: Innovation, Strategy, Simplicity which tested the imaginative, analytical and simple yet powerful thinking of the students.
The competition was held across two of the Amazon’s prominent business areas: a)Operations, b) Consumer Business.
The competition consisted of two rounds: The Ace Case Breakers and The Innovation Challenge. The contest was open to all the first and second year students of PGP and PGPX programmes of the selected Top B-schools. View the complete list here. According to the competition guidelines, the interested students were allowed to form teams of max 3 members and min of 2 members.
The preliminary round, the Ace Case Breakers was conducted online where the registered teams were asked to choose their domain of interest (either operation, or consumer business, or both). A case study was assigned to each team and a window period of 96 hours was given for submission of the final solution.
The Jury selected the top 5 teams from each business area – Operations and Consumer Business. These top 10 teams are called to the Bengaluru office for the final round, the Innovation Challenge. The teams presented their case studies to the business leaders from Amazon. Based on the decision taken by the Jury, a list of finalists was declared.
The finalist teams were assigned to a mentor who assisted them to have an in-depth understanding of the new case studies. Teams submitted the final PPT along with supporting documents for final face-off which was held on 26th-27th Aug 2017 at Amazon India head office at Bengaluru. Team Three Aces from Indian School Of Business (ISB) was declared the winner and TeamK from IIM, Kozhikode became the runners-up in Consumer Business section. In the Operations section team The Contingency Theorists from XLRI Jamshedpur grabbed the first position and team Sputnik 3, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was declared the runners-up.
Winners under each received prizes worth 1,50,000 INR and runners-up were given prizes worth 45,000 INR under each business case.
Amazon ACE Challenge ranked third in the Most Prestigious B-School Competitions of the Year 2018 as part of Dare2Compete Awards based on 3600+ student responses from across all B-Schools.
