AICTE is doing its bits and helping the education sector to tide over the challenges incurred due to the pandemic. After asking colleges not to hike the fees, revising the academic calendar, opening up free e-learning courses, it has once again motivated the students to stick to their guns and keep excelling. Here is a recent reform of AICTE for B-School admissions 2020-21.
As per the latest relaxation from AICTE, institutions offering MBA/PGDM courses have been allowed to admit students on the basis of marks attained in qualifying UG exams. The key highlights of the B-School admissions 2020-21 as per the AICTE guidelines are as follows:
- This relaxation is made only for the 2020-21 academic session and is not applicable for the future academic years.
- B-School admissions 2020-21 can be made on the basis of all-India tests like CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT, and the Common Entrance Test of respective states.
- Keeping the hard work of students appearing for entrance examinations in mind, the first preference would be given to the candidates who have qualified these exams, irrespective of their marks secured at degree level as long as minimum marks are secured.
- This relaxation will be applicable to B-Schools if there are vacant seats available.
- If the states want, they may also use this relaxation while allotting seats through counseling.
On March 16, the Centre took a firm decision to shut down countrywide classrooms as a measure to contain COVID-19. However, the colleges, schools, and universities continue to be closed, AICTE declared to commence the academic session for PGDM/PGCM courses from August 10 virtually.
