It was both, a surprise as well as a joyous moment for me. Colgate Transcend has always been known for coming up with great challenges for MBA students so that they can solve and learn at the same time. This year was no different.

Designing a social media strategy is a crucial skill set required by the industry. Colgate Transcend was thus an opportunity for me to learn this skill while getting my hands dirty. We first made ourselves completely aware of the problem statement and the facts mentioned in the case study. We often miss the actual problem and thus as a team, we wanted to solve the problem in the most effective way by thoroughly understanding it. We spent a lot of time working on the problem.

The most challenging part of the problem was creating content examples that correctly express our ideas. In order to come up with effective creatives, we even reached out to a few of our batchmates. Our team shared a very good rapport with each other. Each one of us had worked in multiple case studies in the past and hence we were carrying with us, some learnings from past experiences.

We had many conflicts within the team but we solved it among ourselves quite effectively. We wanted to be absolutely sure about our ideas and therefore had multiple heated arguments to check for perfection. The team had a great mix in terms of its members. We all were good with content, creatives and making impressive PowerPoint presentations.

There were 5 teams in the Grand Finale. Unfortunately, two of us were not there in the grand finale because of our college placement drive but from what we heard through our third teammate, the competition was very tough and all had a fair chance of winning.

Being the Runners Up last year, we were considering NMIMS as a slightly bigger threat. During the regional rounds, we got some positive feedback on our understanding of the brand personality. That was of great help to us as we made the necessary changes before we went for the grand finale.

The concept of brand personality helped us in understanding and viewing our solution from different angles. It also helped us in coming up with better and more effective solutions.

Tejas has done his schooling from Maharashtra and went on to do Engineering from Kerala before landing back in Maharashtra for his MBA. As an undergraduate student, he co-founded a startup in the Intellectual Property Space. In 2016, the startup was acquired by his investors.
