Deeksharambh: A guide to student induction programme at AMU Malappuram, 2019 -By Benjeer Usmani
Under Deeksharambh, the guide to a fruitful student induction program at AMU Malappuram, we engaged in a range of activities that introduced us to our MBA journey. The guide was prepared by the Union Grants Commision (UGC) in early 2019, and encourages universities across the country to involve a new batch in activities like creative arts and culture, lectures by eminent people, and visits to local industries complemented by adequate mentoring.
My induction program at AMU Malappuram commenced on 22 September, 2019. The entire batch was delighted to finally step on campus, and get acquainted with one another. We were also introduced to the different facilities available on campus and also got an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the course curriculum of MBA.
Industry visits and alumni meets
The induction program at AMU Malappuram kicked off with an introduction of our wonderful professors, and faculty members from other departments. Over the course of the program, we interacted with our alumni, who shared their experiences and motivated the students to work smart for the overall development and expectancy of the corporate world after an MBA.
On the third day of our induction program at AMU Malappuram, we were fortunate enough to have hands-on experience and participate in an industrial visit organised by our professors. The practical exercise helped us visualise our dreams of working in the industry and understand the challenges a person is likely to face in the world of business.
A visit to an old age home was also organised under the induction program at AMU Malappuram. We interacted with the people there, and also performed a skit for them. The familial connection I established with them is hard to describe, but I am extremely grateful for the time I spent with them. There is no better feeling than the love and care we received from the elderly.
Breaking the ice with festivities and group work
The induction program at AMU Malappuram was packed with festivities to help the new batch get acquainted with one another. The seniors encouraged us to participate in the teacher’s day celebrations on campus by performing a skit, singing, and dancing. We also visited a national park. The motto of the trip was to inculcate the importance of values like team management, group work, and the strength of togetherness.
We also had an art and cultural program organised, under which there were a quiz and an advertising competition. The induction program at AMU Malappuram ended with great festivities of Onam. The entire week was filled with amazing activities and learning experiences, which geared us up for our MBA journey!
