Tips and tricks to reach the national finale of HUL FinAce Season 3 -By Team SPectacular from SPJIMR

Our strategy was to focus only on the problems given in the case and hit the nail. We worked together, brainstormed ideas and then checked feasibility of even the smallest things included. This plan of action helped us reach the grand finale of HUL FinAce Season 3.

The plan of action

We worked for around 15 days on the final presentation and it was very difficult to take out time as we all were completing our internships. One of our team members was not well during the last few days of the competition which could have held us back. But despite every challenge, we were able to give our best by working hard.

Around 14 teams made it to the finals. The teams from JBIMS and IIM Ahmedabad were tough competitors. Our team’s name is SPectacular. We have participated in many competitions together. We feel that we have the right balance of analytical and conceptual knowledge along with creativity which helps us outshine the rest.

Our important takeaways

The case had an exciting problem which made us stick to work till the end. The judges were extremely patient and cognizant of all the numbers that we included in the presentation. They appreciated our work and also gave productive feedback as to what could have been better.

We have learnt to work in a team, focus not only on our performance but also on bringing out the best in others. We got exposure to the personal care sector of India which opened our minds and gave us an insight into new possibilities. Also, we learnt about sustainable packaging options and how the world is moving towards using sustainable alternatives.

The entire idea of going to the HUL Campus for HUL FinAce Season 3 and presenting in front of senior leadership was breathtaking. One special moment for us was when we were honored as the best minds in the country by the senior leader. We were also fortunate to get an opportunity to attend a session on career by Mr. Srinivas Phatak (CFO, HUL).
