Night Guard to IIM Ranchi Professor - The Self-Scripted Success Story of Ranjith Ramachandran

“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” – Og Mandino. The success story of Ranjith Ramachandran is a perfect example to be quoted. Being a part-time night watchman to a full-time assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi, Ranjith has undoubtedly come a long way in struggling with life. 

With an aim to become a fertilizer for someone’s dream, Ranjith decided to pen down his story via his Facebook page. And within minutes, the post became a sensational source of inspiration, so much so that Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac congratulated him on his Facebook post.

“An IIM Professor was born in this house”

Sharing his story, Ranjith posted a picture of his home, a hut in a village in Kasargod, Kerala, where he still lives. Describing his hardships, he revealed how challenging it was to manage between a watchman duty and studies. He ensured to attend college in day and return to his job at night.

Moreover, when he reached IIT Madras for his doctorate he felt left alone in the crowd as the communication became a barrier due to his Malayalam language. It was when he decided to leave his PhD, his mentor Dr. Subhash convinced him not to step back and fight back strongly. This backing helped him push himself further and earn the doctorate degree last year. 

Change is the Law of Life!

Ranjith Ramachandran’s journey from his dilapidated hut to the assistant professor of IIM Ranchi has changed everything in his life. His decision to lead a normal life despite achieving success he aspired for, is uncommon to witness today.

Before becoming an Assistant Professor in IIM, he joined Christ University, Bangalore for two months and in between that he got a posting to IIM Ranchi.
