GATE, the qualifying exam for admission to various postgraduate courses in the field of engineering (MTech, ME), architecture, and sciences in some of the recognized institutions of India and abroad is being conducted this year by IIT Bombay. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode in morning and evening shifts.
The GATE exam score remains valid for 3 years. The candidate needs to qualify for a minimum expected cut-off released by conducting authority and the institute’s own qualifying cut-off in order to get shortlisted for counselling. The cut-off depends on a variety of factors such as number of candidates who took the exam, difficulty level of the exam, number of seats available for the course, and category of the candidate. CCMT counselling is then conducted for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and COAP counselling for admission to IITs.
GATE Mechanical Engineering (ME) was conducted on 14 February, 2020 in two slots: Morning slot (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon slot (3 pm to 6 pm).
