Get certified by ISRO! Free online course open to everyone

As many leading institutes continue to open their doors to students, by way of online courses, ISRO has also joined the league. Through its centre, the Indian Institute of remote sensing, ISRO is now inviting applicants for a free online course on Satellite Photogrammetry. The course will begin on June 29. It will run for one week, up to July 3.

The free online course will focus upon the concepts and techniques to analyze data from space-borne sensors, and introduce the candidates to:

Photogrammetric concepts

Satellite photogrammetry

DEM and its derivatives

Basics of GPS

Orthoimage generation

There is no fee for attending this program, however, the participants have to be duly sponsored by their university/institution. The applications for the same must be forwarded via coordinators from respective organizations.

Hardware and software requirements mandatory for the course:

Computer/Laptop (with Windows OS)

Web Camera

Headphone with microphone

Speakers

Display screen

Internet connectivity of 2Mbps or above

If the course is being accessed in a classroom, the institutions are to bear total expenses and not the candidates. The course is targeted towards professionals from State/Central Govt., Private Organizations, NGOs with relevant interests, and students and researchers from the field of disaster management related activities.

The study material will be available through the IIRS link. It will include - lecture slides, video-recorded lectures, open-source software, and handouts of demonstrations. The video lectures will also be made available on the youtube channel of EDUSAT Dehradun (https://www.youtube.com/user/edusat2004).

To receive the certificate for completion of the course, there will be an assessment of all candidates in the following way:

For students: 70% attendance and online examination

For working professionals: 70% attendance and assignment submission.
