GSK E^3 - Engaging and Exciting minds for Excellence 2019 saw fresh ideas presented by the finalists consisting of some of the top educational institutions in the country. Still, we came out guns blazing and had faith in our idea that led us to the second runners up position in this competition.

An app to the rescue

Five teams made it to the finale including our own from IIM Indore. We considered IIM Shillong and IIM Kozhikode as our toughest competitors. They also brought in unique ideas like ours. Our main goal was to leverage the digital channels at their best for a traditional pharmaceutical company. Our approach involved brainstorming ideas and taking inputs from various stakeholders of the pharmaceutical industry by speaking to patients, doctors, pharmacists and path labs. We spent a huge amount of time on primary research. This led to us coming up with a unique solution to integrate all the stakeholders under one roof through an app. We worked almost every day, right from the day the case was released. The challenges we faced were the strict regulations laid by the government for the pharmaceutical industry. So, we kept this in mind while implementing our idea. We also had to make sure that every stakeholder benefited from our solution. Through our solution we achieved exactly that.

We gained extensive knowledge about how the pharmaceutical industry operates through this case challenge. We learned about the impact pharmaceutical companies have on citizens of our country and also the Indian economy. The vision of the company to make people's lives better and help them live longer drove us to take up this challenge. We were happy to contribute for a cause.

Takeaways from the competition

The judgement quality, organisation and framing of the competition were good. It was a great experience. We were mostly aligned on our objectives during brainstorming sessions and hence we rarely had any conflicts.

The outstanding moment for us at GSK E^3 - Engaging and Exciting minds for Excellence 2019 was when they announced that our team won 2nd runner-up. We were very happy since ours was a great team who's forte was critical analysis and smart thinking.
