What was my role during the course of my internship at JK Cement Limited?
I was staffed on a project that required me to engage in Market Analysis, Strategy Formulation, and Analysis of Motivating Factors for Channel Partners. It was not a typical 9-to-5 job rather a promising opportunity that motivated me to put my best foot forward. I worked in a huge and complex setup with people from various divisions. In the process, I gained from them and shared with them my opinions. Every day, I geared up for a new challenge and this made my internship at JK Cement Limited even more interesting. What else a fresher, with not-so-high-expectations, could have asked for! Nothing, I guess.
What did I learn during my internship?
Given the domain of my role, I got a terrific opportunity to learn software like R, Excel, and PowerPoint extensively. Apart from these project-specific learnings, the value addition came in the form of enhanced Corporate Communication Skills. Always keeping a smile on my face while dealing with the potential clients gave a positive boost to my persuasion and patience levels. I knew my internship at JK Cement Limited was going to teach a lot. But what I ended up grasping, completely surpassed my initial expectations. In short, my internship at JK Cement Limited was a bag full of learnings. It groomed me well for upcoming challenges.
What is the work culture at JK Cement Limited?
To attend my internship at JK Cement Limited, I moved to Indore, the city from where I had completed my graduation. Just reliving college days makes one so excited, so you can imagine the extent of fun I had during my 4 months of internship. Indore is just like my second home and doing an internship there was quite exciting.
As a part of my internship, I along with my team members went on a 2-day market visit. We went to Khandwa, a district near Indore. Both days were packed with meetings with different dealers. As a refresher pack, we decided to go on a dinner to a nearby restaurant at the end of the second day. This dinner outing provided as an excellent opportunity. I could bond with my fellow teammates and get an insight into their work methodology. The session proved to be an ice-breaker and allowed me to get comfortable in the company’s work environment.
Given a chance, I would definitely love to work with JK Cement Limited as a full-time employee. The warm and welcoming work culture coupled with a formal business setup makes JK Cement Limited an ideal place to be at. I am sure that working with this reputed organization will throw open doors for my personal growth and development.
What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?
The review and feedback sessions with my mentor came loaded with invaluable insights and lessons. For him, full dedication to work was more important than the final outcome. He made me realize the importance of Reporting i.e. taking notes during discussions. He always gave an in-depth explanation of the allotted task. Further, he encouraged me to clarify my work-related doubts on the spot. According to him, harbouring confusions can prove to be a major setback for one’s career.
If asked to recollect, I would like to pin down one memorable experience from my internship at JK Cement Limited. On one of the occasions, I and my team members were engaged in the process of making a new policy for the company. The catch here was that we were also supposed to carry out a Market Survey to identify customer needs and analyze the Market Acceptance for the same. Being a budding Marketer, the mere thought of working in such an adventurous role gave me an adrenaline rush. And, in the end, I did gain a lot.
To sum up, doing an internship at JK Cement Limited proved to be one of the best decisions of my life. It not only fed my interest in Marketing but also gave a boost to the innovative bent of my mind. I could easily achieve what I had targeted. All the credit goes to JK Cement Limited for the same!
