The selection process for securing an internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited comprised of:
- Aptitude Test
- Case Study Group Discussion
- Panel Interview
Post the Aptitude Test, there was a Case Study GD and the topic revolved around sales trends, issues, competition, etc. In this, we had to give our suggestions for enhancing KPI's by studying the organization’s data and the position of competitors in the market. The final step was the Panel Interview that had questions ranging from Statistics, Data Modeling to Machine Learning. Thorough preparation helped me in breezing through Mahindra and Mahindra Limited’s selection process with the utmost ease.
What was my role during my internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited?
The role assigned to me was that of Data Analytics during my internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. I was staffed on a project that required me to carry out Customer Prioritization for Vehicle Service Reminder on the basis of Past Service Patterns, RFM attributes and Feedbacks. This enterprising role helped me see the bigger picture and understand the core sensibilities of the Data Analysis domain. Overall, my internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited was a marvellous experience.
What did I learn during my internship?
My role at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited helped me to brush up my basics of R, Data Modelling, Machine Learning, and Excel. The jewel in the crown was the enhanced Communication and Presentation Skills that came along. Doing an internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited unleashed my hidden potential and made me aware of the immense opportunities that the world has on offer.
What is the work culture at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited?
I shifted to Mumbai for pursuing my internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited for a period of 3 months. Mumbai’s fast-paced life made my initial days in the city no less than a struggle. In such a situation, my mentors and colleagues proved to be a blessing in disguise. They helped me a great deal in adjusting to the new surroundings easily.
My memory of the first-team outing takes me back to the time when the entire IIC department went out for a celebration. Our entire team comprised of less than 100 individuals and thus it was a great platform to acquaint me with people working in different verticals of the company. I also chanced upon an opportunity to interact with the Analytics Head and IIC leaders personally. Throughout the conversation, not even once did they make me feel like an intern. No wonder, I felt at ease while communicating with them and could gain more than what I had expected.
If given a chance, I would definitely love to work with Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in the same job profile. In just 3 months, the company gave me an enormous exposure in the field of Data and Customer Analytics. Moreover, I also got a chance to present my work to the Analytics Head which was nothing less than a privilege for me. Personally, I believe that the sense of ownership of the projects that Mahindra and Mahindra Limited provided me played an instrumental role in boosting my confidence levels.
What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?
My mentor was my support system during the course of my internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. He always emphasized the need for communicating more with less use of words. The subtlety with which he passed on his invaluable insights to me left me in awe. Now, after the completion of my internship, I can gauge the benefit of the nuances he familiarized me with.
In a nutshell, doing an internship at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited proved to be a major breakthrough in my career. I could get clarity on many of my preconceived notions about the corporate culture. I become well-equipped with the necessary skills to make a lasting career in this sector.
