How an internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios improved my skills in multiple domains | Vishesh’s story
Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios is the transformed version of Aditya Bhat’s “Business of Ideas” which was founded in 2009. Doing an internship with such a coveted organization promised to offer me an enticing opportunity. I wanted to work in the domain of Marketing Communications. So, when I found that Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios was coming to my college for a summer internship recruitment drive, I was on cloud nine.
What is the selection process for doing an internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios?
The selection process of Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios was quite rigorous. It screened the candidates through the exhaustive process of:
- Group Discussion
- Group Task
- Stress Interview
Only 36 candidates out of 144 could make through the Group Discussion round. Post that, there was a Group Task in which we were required to perform Advertising Analysis, Campaign Design and Elevator Pitch. Only 15 students managed to clear this round. The last step was the Stress Interview. I was one of those 10 students who could sail through this round.
What was my role during my internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios?
My internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios was unique in the sense that I was given full flexibility to choose a domain to work in. So, naturally, I picked Sales, Brand Strategy, Client servicing and Development of Intellectual Property. There was a catch here. Unlike other internships, Reliance did not restrict me to a specific domain. This dynamism ensured that I never succumbed to the work-pressure and gave it my best shot. Overall, my internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios was a well-rounded experience.
What did I learn during my internship?
The best aspect of my internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios was the fact that I got an invaluable opportunity to improve my skill set. From IMC planning to Digital Marketing to Content Writing to Sales to Secondary research, you name it and I have done it all! I could fulfil my quest of experimenting in the domain of Marketing Communications. I certainly could not have asked for anything more than this.
What is the work culture at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios?
My internship was in the same city as that of my college. So, I missed the chance to experience a new place. But that was fully compensated by the wonderful experiences I gained during my internship. Additionally, I did not have to worry about finding a new place and adjusting to a new environment. There was no official team outing as such. But this did not deter us from enjoying ourselves thoroughly during our work. We always came up with unique ideas that made our internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios a fun-filled journey.
Right now, I don’t think that I am in a position to decide upon my future course of action. The world out there has a platter full of opportunities that excites me to the core. I wish to have a taste of all before arriving at a final decision. Till then, I am open to all the opportunities that life will throw at me.
What did I learn from my mentor during the course of my internship?
My mentor was my pillar of strength during my internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios. He appreciated my professionalism for a fresher and suggested me to improve my consistency in work. I am indebted to him for grooming me as an individual, ready to enter the professional world.
I would like to conclude with an interesting incident that happened during my internship at Reliance Industries Limited Jio Studios. In one of the instances, I was supposed to prepare a pitch deck for a cold-lead client in just 4 hours. This incident taught me to rise against all the odds and shine past difficult times with utmost ease. Thus, my internship was a journey laden with invaluable experiences.
